So that I could just buy the phone from T-Mobile and transfor my contacts and stuff to the Sidekick. And I know that the use the same SIM card so thats taken care of.
Can you use a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 with Cingular plans and SIM cards?
Only if its unlocked. See if you can find an unlocked one on ebay.
Reply:It won't work even if it is unlocked. The purpose of unlocking a Sidekick is to be able to use it overseas with a different company that has access to the Sidekick network. In the United States, T-Mobile is the only company that provides access to this network. If you stick a Cingular SIM card in an unlocked Sidekick, unlike most other GSM phones, it will just continue to search and reject your SIM card.
Many people have tried this and it's failed - save your money and either switch to T-Mobile or look at what data devices Cingular offers. (I personally like the Peral in their line-up.)

What information do sim cards hold? Can they hold tone, video, or picture files?
I know I already asked this question, but the answers were not answered completely.
What information do sim cards hold? Can they hold tone, video, or picture files?
The 32 kb simcard is only capable of saving around 10 text messages and around 20 contacts...nothing else!
Reply:If we're talking about a SIM card in a cell phone, then it only holds your account information and (if you configure it to) your contacts. It can not hold media files.

Switch Sim cards from motorola to blackberry?
I was wondering if i keep nextel service can i just switch sim cards from my current phone (motorola i560) to on i would like to buy off the internet (blackberry)
Switch Sim cards from motorola to blackberry?
there should be no problem. i had cingular, they use sim cards too, and i would switch all the time. the only thing u have to worry about if if the blackberry is on the same tower frequencies. when i first got a phone i wanted an a certain model but when i went to get it the people at cingular told me that the phone didn't adapt to their new technology. it is a blackberry so u should have no problem

What brands of unlocked cell phones are compatible with nextel sim cards?
My nextel is an i530, and I just want to upgrade. I still want to keep my direct connect and internet connection, though.
What brands of unlocked cell phones are compatible with nextel sim cards?
Nextel Phones do have sim cards....try looking for Cingular they have phones that use the direct connect feature.
Reply:nextel does not use sim cards, same with sprint and verizon. only cingular, t-mobile, and a couple other brands.

Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?
If so, can you take the SIM card out of the "cheapest" pay as you go phone possible and put it into an already owned "nicer" phone? What must be done first, and in what ways do they have to be compatible? Thanks!
Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?
the cingular go phones take sim cards and i think the t mobile prepaid does as well. the verizon pre paid phones do not. in order for you to be able to just take the card out and put it in another phone with no hassle, it needs to be the same carrier, i.e. a cingular go phone sim card inserted into another cingular phone, as opposed to a t mobile phone. hope that helps =]
Reply:yes
Reply:No most of them don't
Reply:First, many wireless carriers in the USA do not use SIM Cards, therefore, finding a company, especially a Pay as you go carrier, that uses a SIM card will be a hard one. The real only two carriers that offer any Coverage and use SIM Cards, are Cingular and T-Mobile. Carriers like Verizon Wireless will not be compatible with your idea.
If you have verified that the phone is a SIM Card using phone and then you need to unlock it. Most people, including me on yahoo answers will not know the long process of unlocking the phone. Many SIM Card using wireless carriers will know how to help you do this.
Your final answer is yes, they can be, it is just risky and may be difficult.

Do the new att sim cards work in the cingular phones?
I am thinking that they dont, but has anyone tried this before?
Do the new att sim cards work in the cingular phones?
Yes it should perfectly. A at%26amp;t sim card should work in a Cingular phone. A sim card registers the phones Serial number to the network. If the serial number is in Cingulars system it should work........ Cingulars and at%26amp;t's sim cards register to the same towers.
Reply:when Cingular bought "old AT%26amp;T" it wouldn't unless the phone was unlocked because they were separate networks (though not for good reason - AT%26amp;T's GSM %26amp; phones could conceivably have been integrated into the Cingular network w/o changes). AT%26amp;T also had a TDMA network that couldn't be integrated. Report Abuse
Reply:Now they're just rebranding. This is similar to a person changing names when (s)he marries. The person doesn't change, just the name.
As a matter of fact, my old Cingular phone now says "AT%26amp;T" on the screen but works just the same with no updates. Report Abuse
Reply:Cingular is now.........THE NEW AT%26amp;T.
Well, that's what they said on my last bill.
I want my, I want my, I want SNET.
