Is it possible to have two working SIM cards for one number?

My friend was telling me that it was possible to have two SIM cards for the same number (on T-mobile). So basically, if I call the number, two phones would ring simultaneously. I personally think it's impossible. What do you guys think?

Is it possible to have two working SIM cards for one number?
You can have 2 SIM's for the same phone number, but if you call the number only one phone would ring. This would be the phone which has last registered on the network.

Mobile Operators Give this facility for using one of the SIM card in the Car Phone, So ideally, if you are in the car, you have to turn off your Mobile phone and turn on your car phone.

Its Totally possible to have 2 SIM cards for the Same number and also the other way is possible where you can have 2 Numbers on the same SIM card.
Reply:It is unlikely that t-mobile will allow you to do this.
Reply:not possible

Can I use 2 sim cards in a single cell phone set?

I have 2 sim cards of 2 different telecommunication company. That means i have 2 cell numbers., can i hold my cellphone as a multi card user set?

Can I use 2 sim cards in a single cell phone set?
yes it is possible but you have to use the number in turn, they can't both be active at the same time.

there are two ways you can do this,

first with multiple simcard adapter that would look like this:

but this additional accessories is quite troublesome to use

second, with simcard copier or cloner that could store up to 12 numbers in one card, this is a lot better tool to use multiple numbers than the multiple card adaptor you also can use it to back up your simcard:

Reply:i don't think so..

i think every cell phone only has one slot for one sim card.

so you can't put two sim cards into one cell phone.
Reply:yes you can, you just need a special adaptor for it
Reply:Yes you can, though I have never tryed it, so I'm not sure how it works.

Can my wife and I switch sim cards in our Cingular phones if we want to trade phones?

Basically, we have come to the conclusion that we each like the other's phone. Both phones are on the same account. We can't simply trade phones because we would have to let all of our business contacts know we have new numbers. Can we just trade phones and switch the sim cards to keep our own phone numbers?

Can my wife and I switch sim cards in our Cingular phones if we want to trade phones?
You sure can.. me and my husband did the same thing not to long ago but.....

~CAUTION WARNING~

Be sure to save all of your telephone numbers to your SIM not just to the phone...there is an option to save all to SIM. Do that before you switch or like my husband you will lose whatever numbers were saved just to the phone.
Reply:You sure can trade but to make it easier write down the important phone numbers in case you lose them . But try to make sure the numbers on the phone is saved to the Sim card. Then tell your wife the same if you want to . Report Abuse

Reply:i think so. i did it with my mom's phone, but we both have RazR's...just different colors.
Reply:yes
Reply:yes with cingular u can switch sim cards in any cingular or cell one cellular one or bell one phones
Reply:yes you can
Reply:That works fine! my sister and I did the same thing recently!

Just make sure you save your phone book to your sim card so you have all of oyur contacts!
Reply:Of Course You Can! All You Do Is Take Out The Battery(if necessary) And Take Out The Sim Card. I'm With AT%26amp;T. It's Not Called Cingular Anymore. But For My Phone I Don't Need To Take Out The Battery. My Phone Is The iPhone.
Reply:Yes, perfectly fine. :)
Reply:Oh yeah! it doesn't affect anything. Just make sure you erase all ur "contacts";) (if u know what I mean)lol!!
Reply:yea

When using 2 sim cards from different countries will one divert to the other?

I know that in dual sim cards they automatically divert to each other. But if I buy one in India, one in Australia, and I'm in Australia, will my calls from India still be received if I'm absent from India? Or does my India card have to be set to international roaming?

No, they won't divert.

You'd have to put your Indian sim back into the handset to receive the calls on your Indian # and that service would also have to be provisioned for international roaming) for you to receive those calls whilst roaming in Australia. And vice versa.

How do GSM+SIM cards work? Do I need a service provider or do I just stick in the SIM card and call?

Ok lets say I buy an unlocked GSM phone in the US and a prepaid sim card. Can I call people w/o a service provider or do I need a service provider? If I do, is the service provider free or are there monthly bills in addition to the sim cards?

How do GSM+SIM cards work? Do I need a service provider or do I just stick in the SIM card and call?
they are service provider specific and in most cases it will lock you out unless the sim from the same company... you really need to be sure the phone will support that type of card.
Reply:If you bought a pre-paid sim card, you should have some sort of idea who your service provider is????? You can't just buy a pre-paid sim without a provider. T-Mobile is the largest pre-paid sim card service provider on the GSM network. There is a good website about phone service that has really good links including those about cell phone service and it's worth reading. I'll include it below. They are continously upgrading and adding relevant information and they have an RSS feed for that too. There is a really good link that pertains to nothing but service providers and examples of coverage and I can see why they added the link. Their info is valuable too and worth reading and bookmarking!

What are sim cards and why are they important?

I am going to London for 6 months in January and I was told it would be easiest to switch to a company that has phones with sim cards (I now have verizon, and they don't) in order to keep my number and for things to be cheaper, etc. Is this true? What is the point of a sim card and why do I need one?

What are sim cards and why are they important?
A SIM card, or Subscriber Identity Module, is a portable memory chip used in some models of cellular telephones. The SIM card makes it easy to switch to a new phone by simply sliding the SIM out of the old phone and into the new one. The SIM holds personal identity information, cell phone number, phone book, text messages and other data. It can be thought of as a mini hard disk that automatically activates the phone into which it is inserted.

A SIM card provides an even bigger advantage for international travelers -- simply take your phone with you and buy a local SIM card with minutes. For example, a traveler from the U.S. staying in the U.K. can purchase a SIM card across the pond. Now the phone can be used to call throughout England without paying international roaming charges from the carrier back home.

A SIM card can come in very handy. For example, let's say your phone runs out of battery power at a friend's house. Assuming you both have SIM-based phones, you can remove the SIM card from your phone and slide it into your friend's phone to make your call. Your carrier processes the call as if it were made from your phone, so it won't count against your friend's minutes.

If you upgrade your phone there's no hassle involved. The SIM card is all you need. Just slide it into the new phone and you're good to go. You can even keep multiple phones for different purposes. An inexpensive phone in the glove compartment, for example, for emergency use, one phone for work and another for home. Just slide your SIM card into whatever phone you wish to use.

High-end cell phones can be very attractive and somewhat pricey. If you invest in an expensive phone you might want to keep it awhile. Using a SIM card, it is even possible to switch carriers and continue to use the same phone. The new carrier will simply issue you their own SIM card. The phone must be unlocked, however, and operate on the new carrier's frequency or band.
Reply:Malarkey.

Switching will cost you a $200 termination fee (although I believe Verizon prorates the cacellation fee...)

You should be able to contact Verizon and RENT a world-band phone to use in Europe. This way, you staw with the company you like, and don't have to play for cancellation, new activation and a new phone from a nother carrier.

Call your customer care number and ask abut International handsets. Or follow this link to information you will find useful.
Reply:sim cards keep all your info stored,,,

like if ur phone stops working or u want to switch phones with some 1 all u have to do is take out ur sim card %26amp;put it in the other phone...

im thinking about swithching to another service company seems easier.

good luck.!

london that awesome!

SIM cards...?

I have a t-mobile phone and a t-mobile sim card. I have heard that you can use t-mobile sim cards in cingular phones because they are compatable. Is this true and have you tried it?

SIM cards...?
while they are the same shape, unless the phone is unlocked, the tmobile sim wont work in a cingular locked phone and vice versa.

If you pop a tmobile sim into a phone locked to cingular, you run the risk of locking the phone...and not even a cingular sim will work in it.

I learned that one the hard way.
Reply:both r GSM phone companies but u need unlocked (phoens not locked to a certain carriers) phones to use from one carrier to another...search up more on google
Reply:it's ture.

but you need to make sure your Cingular phone is unlocked first.

otherwise, the phone will not recognize the sim card.
