Can I get free Pay As You Go Sim Cards when in vegas?

Just changed SIM Cards, but how do I clean up?

I've had my phone unblocked so I could swap my O2 sim card for a Virgin one. However, it still has the O2 animation and numbers on it. Is there really no way to remove those?

Just changed SIM Cards, but how do I clean up?
you need to get the phone flashed and get a generic firmware installed.

Do European SIM cards work in cingular pay as you go phones?

i want to buy a 20 dollar pay as you go phone online. will i be able to just throw away the sim card that comes with it and just insert a Vodafone orange or movistar SIM card while in Spain? it has GSM capabilities and dual band so will Cingular keep charging me for something and will the SIM cards work?

Do European SIM cards work in cingular pay as you go phones?
No unfortunatley it will not just like any other GSM provider in the us it must be unlocked first any GSM phone could be used after it is unlocked with any SIM card. and cingular wont unlock its prepaid phones only postpaid phones for international travel. if your getting it offline just get a cheap unlocked phone from ebay cause it will cost 20-40 dollars to get a phone that is locked unlocked. hope that helps

If you have an unlocked phone that uses sim cards can you use it on a non sim card network like verizon?

ok so if i have new cell that uses a sim card, can it work with a non sim card network (verizon)

If you have an unlocked phone that uses sim cards can you use it on a non sim card network like verizon?
GSM technology (the kind that uses SIM cards) is different from CDMA technology (no SIM card, used on Verizon and Sprint networks) are two different technologies and the phones off one kind do not work on the other kind. I believe it is not possible to use Sprint on Verizon and vice versa.

There are a few phones on the market (pretty expensive ones, at that) that are capable of working on both technologies, but you're talking 100s of $$ for one of those.
Reply:i doubt it

verizon has a different cellular technology from sim card using companies like at%26amp;t

verizon has cdma phones while at%26amp;t has gsm phones
Reply:no you can't the only way a sim cards work is throughout the cingular and tomobile era!!!!
Reply:No, phones that use sim cards are GSM and non sim card phones are CDMA networks. It will not work.
Reply:No you can not. Vzw has a secure network which is code division multiple access (cdma).

Other networks are not geared for this technology.

Can you transfer cellphone SIM cards from one to another?

I'm trying to get all my contacts from my old cellphone without rekeying them all into my new one. The phones are from the same mfr., so I figured it shouldn't be a problem. Will it work?

Can you transfer cellphone SIM cards from one to another?
within the same carrier, you can. if you saved the contacts to your sim they will just transfer over well.
Reply:in the contacts section of the phone copy all the names from the phone to the sim and then when you put the sim in your other phone they will stay with your sim.
Reply:Only GSM technology supported phones u can do it ....

Since u have used word Sim card ... YOU CAN DO IT ...
Reply:it should do if the phone accepts sims from the provider! some phones only accept same sims - is it unlocked?

Does someone know how to unlock a Motorola V551 cellphone to use with other sim cards?

I would like it as a backup it is a Cingular phone and would like to use it with a tmobile sim. Thanks

Does someone know how to unlock a Motorola V551 cellphone to use with other sim cards?
Best bet is to find a place online that'll unlock your phone for you.
Reply:Grab a hammer, and smash it until the phone opens up. You will then find a key on the inside. Then grab the key and unlock it.

Is there any other sim cards that will work in a t-mobile sidekick?

because i am tryin to buy a sidekick3, however, t-mobile services doesnt work where i am from. i have a sprint phone right now but i really want a sidekick3, some1 please help me if you know anything about this.

Is there any other sim cards that will work in a t-mobile sidekick?
Visit a Verizon Wireless store %26amp; see if they have service in your area. Don't get so hung up on one phone either. I learned that when working for a well known wireless company 2 years ago. I want a Treo or a Blackberry, but I'm not paying $399 for either one. Cingular might offer the Sidekick that you want. Check their website, call them or go into one of their stores. Cingular %26amp; T-Mobile are the only ones who offer SIM card phones.

What is your say on the registration of cell phones and sim cards?

are you for or against this action considering all or several aspects that may be involved with it? also, a site (regarding the topic) recommendation will be appreciated.

What is your say on the registration of cell phones and sim cards?
Cellphones and sim cards should be registered under the names of the purchasers to trace illegal activities.

Can you use a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 with Cingular plans and SIM cards?

So that I could just buy the phone from T-Mobile and transfor my contacts and stuff to the Sidekick. And I know that the use the same SIM card so thats taken care of.

Can you use a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 with Cingular plans and SIM cards?
Only if its unlocked. See if you can find an unlocked one on ebay.
Reply:It won't work even if it is unlocked. The purpose of unlocking a Sidekick is to be able to use it overseas with a different company that has access to the Sidekick network. In the United States, T-Mobile is the only company that provides access to this network. If you stick a Cingular SIM card in an unlocked Sidekick, unlike most other GSM phones, it will just continue to search and reject your SIM card.

Many people have tried this and it's failed - save your money and either switch to T-Mobile or look at what data devices Cingular offers. (I personally like the Peral in their line-up.)

What information do sim cards hold? Can they hold tone, video, or picture files?

I know I already asked this question, but the answers were not answered completely.

What information do sim cards hold? Can they hold tone, video, or picture files?
The 32 kb simcard is only capable of saving around 10 text messages and around 20 contacts...nothing else!
Reply:If we're talking about a SIM card in a cell phone, then it only holds your account information and (if you configure it to) your contacts. It can not hold media files.

Switch Sim cards from motorola to blackberry?

I was wondering if i keep nextel service can i just switch sim cards from my current phone (motorola i560) to on i would like to buy off the internet (blackberry)

Switch Sim cards from motorola to blackberry?
there should be no problem. i had cingular, they use sim cards too, and i would switch all the time. the only thing u have to worry about if if the blackberry is on the same tower frequencies. when i first got a phone i wanted an a certain model but when i went to get it the people at cingular told me that the phone didn't adapt to their new technology. it is a blackberry so u should have no problem

What brands of unlocked cell phones are compatible with nextel sim cards?

My nextel is an i530, and I just want to upgrade. I still want to keep my direct connect and internet connection, though.

What brands of unlocked cell phones are compatible with nextel sim cards?
Nextel Phones do have sim cards....try looking for Cingular they have phones that use the direct connect feature.
Reply:nextel does not use sim cards, same with sprint and verizon. only cingular, t-mobile, and a couple other brands.

Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?

If so, can you take the SIM card out of the "cheapest" pay as you go phone possible and put it into an already owned "nicer" phone? What must be done first, and in what ways do they have to be compatible? Thanks!

Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?
the cingular go phones take sim cards and i think the t mobile prepaid does as well. the verizon pre paid phones do not. in order for you to be able to just take the card out and put it in another phone with no hassle, it needs to be the same carrier, i.e. a cingular go phone sim card inserted into another cingular phone, as opposed to a t mobile phone. hope that helps =]
Reply:yes
Reply:No most of them don't
Reply:First, many wireless carriers in the USA do not use SIM Cards, therefore, finding a company, especially a Pay as you go carrier, that uses a SIM card will be a hard one. The real only two carriers that offer any Coverage and use SIM Cards, are Cingular and T-Mobile. Carriers like Verizon Wireless will not be compatible with your idea.

If you have verified that the phone is a SIM Card using phone and then you need to unlock it. Most people, including me on yahoo answers will not know the long process of unlocking the phone. Many SIM Card using wireless carriers will know how to help you do this.

Your final answer is yes, they can be, it is just risky and may be difficult.

Do the new att sim cards work in the cingular phones?

I am thinking that they dont, but has anyone tried this before?

Do the new att sim cards work in the cingular phones?
Yes it should perfectly. A at%26amp;t sim card should work in a Cingular phone. A sim card registers the phones Serial number to the network. If the serial number is in Cingulars system it should work........ Cingulars and at%26amp;t's sim cards register to the same towers.
Reply:when Cingular bought "old AT%26amp;T" it wouldn't unless the phone was unlocked because they were separate networks (though not for good reason - AT%26amp;T's GSM %26amp; phones could conceivably have been integrated into the Cingular network w/o changes). AT%26amp;T also had a TDMA network that couldn't be integrated. Report Abuse

Reply:Now they're just rebranding. This is similar to a person changing names when (s)he marries. The person doesn't change, just the name.

As a matter of fact, my old Cingular phone now says "AT%26amp;T" on the screen but works just the same with no updates. Report Abuse

Well, that's what they said on my last bill.

Ive checked 3 verizon phones and havent found the sim cards in any of them.

Do verizon cell phones have sim cards?
verizon cellphones don't use sim cards. they aren't a GSM based carrier. if thts wht ur lookn for u need to take a look at AT%26amp;T and T-MOBILE.
Reply:probably cause they-re prepaid
Reply:Nope they are a CDMA company in case you don't understand what that is go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDMA

Do Pre-pay Cingular/AT&T phones work with Regular Cingular Sim Cards?

My current Cingular Phone is dieing fast and i was wondering if by any chance a prepay phone could accept my regular service Sim card and work properly or not. Anyone know if it is possible of if certain phones can do it?

Do Pre-pay Cingular/AT%26amp;T phones work with Regular Cingular Sim Cards?
Yes, you can use a pre-paid phone as your regular service phone. All that is needed, is for you to place your service plan sim card into the pre-paid phone and it works like a charm!!

Purchasing a pre-paid phone saves you TONS of money, compared to purchasing the same phone in the Service providers store.

What USA mobile phone company uses SIM cards?

I use an unlocked cell phone when I travel overseas, to cut down on the cost. I was wondering if any US phone companies use SIM cards.

What USA mobile phone company uses SIM cards?
T-Mobile %26amp; Cingular (At%26amp;t) use the SIM card technology. Verizon and Sprint do not. Phones with SIM card features are better because they can be used overseas as you mentioned. Therefore, you will have a hard time using your Verizon or Sprint phone overseas..
Reply:I use cingular and they do use sim Cards and they just bought out At%26amp;t whom also use Sim cards.. I think most U.S wireless use the Sm card that is why people here are always looking to buy unlocked phones

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?

I'm on T-mobile and I was wondering if I could upgrade my phone by just buying a phone and then using my SIM card that I already have.

I just want to know because I kind of want a sidekick and I can't wait until my contract is up next spring.

Thanks in advance!

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?
Sure, upgrades usually use your existing SIM anyway. You're free to buy a new phone any time. Probably you're eligible for partial discounts right now, based on your contract ending next year, which you can check online at my.t-mobile.com.
Reply:Yup, you can do that. This way you can keep your contacts, pics, etc. You may want to add the sidekick unlimited plan which includes unlimited txt, internet, email, etc. There also supposed to be a cool new sidekick coming out this year, check that out!

Enjoy your sidekick
Reply:Normally, you could buy a phone that you can just insert your card in... however, Sidekick is a phone that is offered by T-Mo only w/ a plan, and is therefore locked. However, if you want other phones, you can get them from sites like:

cti-miami.com

welectronics.com

And you can just look up phone sellers online. Trust me, there are some way better phones than the sidekick for texting. Look up some of HTC's phones.
Reply:Yes that will work. Once the sim card is in the new phone everything will be just as it did in the other phone.
Reply:Yes you should be able to. Should be very easy.

I know Verizon phones don't use SIM cards so how do I switch phones for Verizon without cancelling my contract

Can someone help me out? I'd really like to get the LG VX10000 or the Blackberry Pearl when theyre available. I know Verizon doesnt use SIM cards....so is my only option to buy a phone from ebay and activate it online? Does that cost money?

I know Verizon phones don't use SIM cards so how do I switch phones for Verizon without cancelling my contract
Last year I bought a phone on eBay, to activate I had to call Verizon, and give them the serial number, and some other information and then they programmed the phone. I tried to do it on-line but it didn't work for some reason. However it was super easy to switch phones, one phone call and about 10 minutes while it programmed. There was no charge and I

didn't have to change my contract. It might be different for you because you may have a different contract, but I have one of the most basic plans they offer and there was no activation fee or other charges associated with switching phones.

As far as the SIM card goes, if you had one it would basically transfer your information (stored numbers, text messages, pictures etc.) when you took it out of one phone and put it in another. So without a SIM card there is another option to switch your contacts without having to type them all back in yourself. If you go to the Verizon website, click on tools and applications and find the backup assistant, you download all your contacts to the website and upload them to your new phone, it may cost you a $1.99 but it might be worth it if you have a ton of contacts. I hope this helps.

Reply:Well, for my opinion verizon wirelless socks, but you can change phones, you just have to pay a little for activation, go to any verizon authorized dealer and then poof, they change phones(But you gonna have to pay)
Reply:You can change phones on verizon plan by going to the website to activate a new phone. If that doesn't work you can also call and they will do it for you. It does not cost to do this and your plan remains the same. You will have to re-enter your contacts on your new phone though.

Can I use Sprint/Nextel sim cards in a phone that's using Cingular sim card right now?

I heard that the Motorola i265 uses a sim card, I'm wondering if it's the same card as a quad band gsm phone uses...

Can I use Sprint/Nextel sim cards in a phone that's using Cingular sim card right now?
No, you can't. Even if you were to get the phone unlocked, it wouldn't work. Nextel uses iDEN technology, while Cingular uses GSM technology. Even though they both use sim cards, they are completely different technologies. An iDEN phone will ONLY work with a privider that uses iDEN technology. GSM phones will only work with providers that use GSM technologies.
Reply:No sorry you cant..Nextel is ran on IDEN tower..and Cingular is GSM technology...the Nextel phones will not support Cingular Sims or vise versa

I have two Nextel i580s that use sim cards, will my T-Mobile sim cards work with the Nextel phones?

There's a message that shows up on the Nextel phone when I put in the T-Mobile sim card that says,"Enter Special Code Now." What code would I need to put in in order the phone to work?

I have two Nextel i580s that use sim cards, will my T-Mobile sim cards work with the Nextel phones?
Soz the only way is to change phone or keep on nextel.
Reply:They're not going to work no matter what code you put in there, they use different technology on those two networks. T-Mobile is a GSM provider similar in fashion to AT%26amp;T, and Nextel is an I-den network. The two are not compatible.

Do AT&T Pay-as-you-go sim cards work in normal phones?

i dont like the way the pay-as-you-go AT%26amp;T looks, plus it is a little small for me. I would really like a blackberry, but i still want it to be pay as you go. I want the blackberry to be just like the normal blackberry, though, (all the features and stuff) would it work like a normal blackberry with a pay as you go at%26amp;t sim card? (and still be pay as you go)

Do AT%26amp;T Pay-as-you-go sim cards work in normal phones?
yes...you can use any unlocked world-phone, like the Blackberry and get the Sims from AT%26amp;T....in the US you have the choice of AT%26amp;T or T-Mobil sims!!

If you purchase the Blackberry (unlocked) on your own, then you don't need a contract from AT%26amp;T
Reply:yea i have pay as you go with at%26amp;t %26amp; i have a blackjack. But the internet is way more expensive then with a regular 2-go-phone i was on there lookin for a ringtone and it charged me like $2 for maybe 3mins of internet usage. you can buy the internet packages (the cheapest is $5). Or get ringtones from funformobile.com %26amp; send them from your computer to your phone. Other than that everything is the same.

sorry i went a lil off topic.

Do I buy a special SIM card for AIr Cards?

I have a 3G international unlocked air card, if i take it to europe, do I have to buy a special SIM card, or just a regular cell phone one?

Do I buy a special SIM card for AIr Cards?
Air cards use the exact same type of sim cards as cell phones do. They are the same size, come in the same packaging, etc. You can't use your current phone SIM card in your air card. You will need to activate another one to put into your aircard.

Hope that addresses your question.

2 sim cards alternating into one phone?

I have a Sony Ericsson 700i and its a triband. I am under T-Mobile USA and am planning to get another carrier called Globe, from the Philippines, and its a prepaid. I can't find my old phone so I am wondering if it is possible for me to use the two sim cards alternatively like I would put the t-mobile during the day here in the US since it is night in the philippines then the globe sim card at night because it is day over there. What problems would I run through? Complications to the phone and the data? Thanks a bunch.

I did search here about this but couldn't find the answer I want. I read about the dual sim card device though.

the sim card stores your address book and also has the phone number

so if you change sim cards it is like it is a different phone

Is there a way of having one mobile phone number on 2 separate sim cards and if so how or where can i get one?

I have a sim card in my PDA that has an unlimited data plan with T-mobile that allows me to surf the web using 3G. I am thinking of buying one of those Ultra mobile PC's which can also take advantage of mobile 3G but don't want to have to get an additional contract or keep swapping my sim card.

Is there a way of having one mobile phone number on 2 separate sim cards and if so how or where can i get one?
Couldn't you connect the PC to your mobile and use it as a modem? therefore not needing a new sim or contract.
Reply:The ESN (Electronic Serial Number.) is more important then the mobile number. The system uses the ESN to track the location of phones so that it can direct calls to that phone.

What you want to do in effect is have one phone number on two different ESN's. The system would be trying to direct a call to two different ESN, and would not result in the best possible service, particularly if the phones were located in different cells at the same time.

You would get a lot of drop outs, calls going astray and not being received at all. In short, the answer is NO, not legally, and if you could do it illegally your service would be cr.p
Reply:dont think so. ask your service provider.

Can I swap Sim cards from phone to phone?

I have bought a new phone with Tesco Mobile. They say I can keep my old number if i get a code from Orange, my current provider. Will this cost?

Can I swap Sim cards from phone to phone?
Hi if you go to your local orange %26amp; ask them for a pac code then give the pac no. to tesco mobile your old no. will automatically be transferred over to your new phone . %26amp; no it wont cost anything to do! i was on orange %26amp; i had my no. transferred to o2 it took about 7 days to do hope this helps
Reply:no its free and its called a PAC code, just call orabge up and ask for it
Reply:If its on same network, or unlocked.. about a tenner to unlock..
Reply:i do but then again i have two american phones, but my uncle does it and he lives in manchester
Reply:Phones are usually locked to a network. You can swap sim cards from phone to phone IF you get an unlock code. You can get this done at many shops usually costing around £5.
Reply:Providing you are out of contract or had the number over 12 months if you are on pre pay you can request a PAC code (Port Authorisation Code) from Orange. You then give this to Tesco Mobile and they will port the number from Orange. As I said if it's over 12 months old and out of contract there will be charge.

You will be able to use your new sim in your current phone but it may be network locked at the moment, again Orange can provide you with the unlock code, and again if it's over 12 months old or out of contract this should also be free.

If you get stuck give me a shout.
Reply:yeh you can,if the other phones are the same network but normally if it is not then just take the phone to any shop (or the market because its alot cheaper to get unlocked to any network it costs a tenner)if you take it to a proper phone shop they will charge you loads and you sim will be sorted

If you currently have T-Mobile, then it will work. However, you won't be able to use some of the features until you call T-Mobile and have the Sidekick Unlimited added. It's a mandatory package for the sidekick that's $20 per month, but it gives you unlimited text messaging, IM's, picture messaging, and web browsing.

Sim cards???

I'm thinking of buying tmobile to go phone, i was wondering what is a sim card? does the go phones have to have one in order for it to be useable???

Sim cards???
Your SIM card which is included in the go phones is like the brain of the phone. I t is used to track minutes used, your phone plan specifics, all the way to storing numbers, downloads, etc. When you upgrade to a different phone you can take your saved numbers with you and other information and transfer your SIM card to the new handset of your choice and be able to keep everything you have saved to the sim card on your new phone.T-mobile is by far the best wireless provider available today. I have been with them for 5 years. Their customer service is unbelievable.
Reply:A sim card is a small card that will give you the connection line.It is place behind your fhone near the batt.
Reply:TMO to go plans are really good, they have nokias for like $30 at wal-mart. to answer your question a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is a smart card roughly the size of a postage stamp that securely stores the key identifying a mobile phone service subscriber, as well as subscription information, saved telephone numbers, preferences, text messages and other information... also any chip can work in any phone so long as the phone is unlocked.

Sim cards.....?

how exactly do sim cards and unlocked phones and all that good stuff work

i want to buy a phone off the internet, but how do i activate it say with verizon?

Sim cards.....?
Since you are asking about Verizon, don't even bother with sim cards and unlocked phones. Verizon's phones and network are CDMA, which doesn't use sim cards, and therefore can't use unlocked phones since unlocked only refers to GSM and iDEN phones meaning they can accept a sim card from a compatible provider. Only CDMA phones can be used with a CDMA provider.

How to transfer sim cards?

I was going to buy an unlocked phone on ebay and switch the sim cards out. I would still be on the same network as the unlocked phone. I wanted to know if this is possible and if i can to do it myself or if i need to take it somewhere. i also wanted to know how to tell if my exsisting phone has a sim card or not in the first place.

How to transfer sim cards?
to find your sim.. take out the battery. I know that Verizon and Sprint don't have sim cards.. if you have an unlocked phone, you can use it with any phone provider just about. Just take out the sim an dput it in the new fone. You can check if your provider is compatible with your phone on ebay.. its somewhere on the page
Reply:If you do have one, it is very easy to do. It is usually located under the battery. Remove the battery, and then you will see the card. It looks like a tiny credit card. It should just slide right out. Remove it, and put it in your new phone. You just have to make sure you have one, and the new phone you're buying is compatible.
Reply:open the back of the phone and then take the battery then the sim card should be a little card that is put in underneath a piece of plastic then take it out and do the same to the other phone and switch their spots

Can a SIM cards be inserted into another phone?

I want to keep Cingular phone service, but their phones suck! If I buy a phone directly from the manufacturer, say, Nokia, will I be able to insert the SIM card into the new phone? (My current phone is LG.) Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm technologically challenged!

Can a SIM cards be inserted into another phone?
Yes. Bit of the phone is "locked" you have to unlock it first. It's mostly pay-as-you-go phones that are locked; but others obtained at concessional prices (or free) may also be locked.

You can do it by getting a code online or for free, or a shop can do it, often for $10 or £10.

Google %26lt;unlock phones%26gt; or try the sites below.
Reply:As someone who used to work for a cell phone company, I can guarantee you the answer is "no". Different manuafacturers use different SIM cards....No dice!
Reply:Yes
Reply:sometimes the phone needs to be unlocked
Reply:i guess, maybe you should talk to another phone agents or talk to the agents who makes the phone
Reply:yes.....i do it when I go over seas....wink!
Reply:Yes, I am assuming you meant to buy an unlocked phone from the Internet. Unlocked phones don't have restrictions on bands and provider coverage. You could however, also unlock your current LG phone for a small price at certain places on the web.
Reply:If you purchase a phone from Nokia you need to make sure its GSM capable and it has the 1900 and 850 frequency. Normally when you purchase phones from the manufacture they are already unlocked. They are only locked if you purchase from a wireless provider. Also if you purchase a phone straight from Nokia be sure to call your provider to configure your phone so you can use the internet and picture messaging. Cingular doesnt charge to do it and its simple.
Reply:Yes . You can insert sim card into other cell phones (only if you can remove it from your original Cingular phone)

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?

Okay, im currently using Cingular (now the new At%26amp;t) and my Motorola RAZR recently fell into water. Now it doesn't work from what I know, and I was wondering if I can take the SIM card from the RAZR and put it onto my Samsung phone which is also from Cingular. Will it work, and will it do damage to the other phone by any harms?

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?
No. All you can do is try and see if the card still works. As long as it didnt get fried then it should work. Give it a try, it won't hurt your Samsung at all. Good luck!
Reply:yes you can as switch the sim, if you can make/receive calls, then it's ok. if you get a sim error then your card may have been damaged. usually you can get your sim card wet and it will be ok to use it.
Reply:If it is fine, it will definitely work on your other Cingular phone. It cannot damage your Samsung phone, so you should put in the SIM and try it. If it does not work, then the problem is that the SIM card may have gotten damaged in the water, but the problem will not be because of any phone compatibility issues.

Sim cards?

does sprint have sim cards

because what if i get a unlocked phone for t-mobile then i bring it into sprint, can they put a sim card in it so it will work with them or not?

Sim cards?
All GSM phones use sim cards. Sprint isn't a GSM carrier they use CDMA technology like Verizon which doesn't use any sim cards so you can't switch phones without calling the carrier.
Reply:my friend is travelling to Europe, so i offered him to use my triband world-phone,...but guess what, his service (Verizon) does not use a Sim card, what a "crock", most carriers use Sim cards, it makes it easy to change phones, use someone else's phone using your own stored address book ... Reply:Sprint does not have sims cards
Reply:Most phones use a SIM card except for the High end ones like a Blackberry. Theoretically if the t-mobile phone is unlocked then you can put your sprint SIM card in it and it will work fine. Sidekicks don't have a sim card. So it won't work for that.

I have 2 prepaid sim cards that are invalidated over a month ago. How do I find subscriber no. of each ?

Both cards cannot be used for dial out or dial in as the respective subscriptions are unpaid for more than a month. The service provider is unhelpful as both the cards are from other states (not where I reside). How to find which is which?

Can i switch sim cards with another phone?

My phone is a motorola v170 and the phone i want to switch with is a nokia 6010 the sim card fits but when i turn it on it asks for a pin code how do i figure out what the pin code is?

Can i switch sim cards with another phone?
most likely your nokia 6010 is 'locked' to the previous provider, you need to unlock first

try to unlock here: http://unlock.nokiafree.org/
Reply:It is either a PIN which you set on your old phone, but maybe you forgot it. If not that, then get in touch with Motorola and ask them what the PIN is on your old sim.

Cellphones w/o SIM cards-- how do they work?

What do verizon/sprint cellphones that do not have SIM cards have in place of SIM cards? And how does that work?

Cellphones w/o SIM cards-- how do they work?
They just have a protected area of memory on the phone itself that performs the same kind of functions as a SIM card. Phones from Verizon and Sprint can program themselves over the air -- they identify themselves by serial number to the network and the network sends the identity information back to the phone to be stored.

In contrast, on a GSM phone the identity information is stored on your SIM card, which gives you the advantage of portability between phones and of using a different card if you need to.
Reply:Sprint and verizon phones do not use any thing at all. What they do (at activation at a store) is....ok every phone has what is called an imei...its like a social security number for phones. At activation they scan the imei to the number that it needs to work with and voila. It magically works. They do this so that no other company can use their phones (unlike atnt or tmobile), so when u break ur phone you have to buy a new one from them....its basically so that they make more money...they also do it so that other people can't use their number on your phone unless they take it to a store...but if the phone is reported missing then they are screwed. With sim or "gsm" phone you can unlock them and swicth phones all you want as long as you take the sim and put it in the phone. Not good for the person that loses their very expensive phone unless they have insurance. Gsm phones are what the rest of the world uses...that's why u can travel with a atnt or tmobile phone and it will work while sprint and verizon won't.
Reply:there the same as any the thing is when u wanna change ur hone cuz u lost it or w/e the reason is u either have to call them or go on their website to change it not like a sim phone were u can just buy it and replace the sim card
