Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?

If so, can you take the SIM card out of the "cheapest" pay as you go phone possible and put it into an already owned "nicer" phone? What must be done first, and in what ways do they have to be compatible? Thanks!

Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?
the cingular go phones take sim cards and i think the t mobile prepaid does as well. the verizon pre paid phones do not. in order for you to be able to just take the card out and put it in another phone with no hassle, it needs to be the same carrier, i.e. a cingular go phone sim card inserted into another cingular phone, as opposed to a t mobile phone. hope that helps =]
Reply:yes
Reply:No most of them don't
Reply:First, many wireless carriers in the USA do not use SIM Cards, therefore, finding a company, especially a Pay as you go carrier, that uses a SIM card will be a hard one. The real only two carriers that offer any Coverage and use SIM Cards, are Cingular and T-Mobile. Carriers like Verizon Wireless will not be compatible with your idea.

If you have verified that the phone is a SIM Card using phone and then you need to unlock it. Most people, including me on yahoo answers will not know the long process of unlocking the phone. Many SIM Card using wireless carriers will know how to help you do this.

Your final answer is yes, they can be, it is just risky and may be difficult.
