Do all Sim cards work with all cell phones as long as they are unlocked?

if the phone is unlocked AND takes a sim card, then yes it will work. You may not be able to access the WAP service nor media messaging, but otherwise it will be fine. You'll need to check w/ the carrier you use to see if they have configuration settings for the phone you are using to enable those.

Do all Sim cards work with all cell phones as long as they are unlocked?
yes.
Reply:the phone has 2 b the sam phone company as ur sims card my bro knows some 1 that tried that and now the phone is not useable so make sure its from the same phone company as sim card or u will ruin a perfectly good cell phone
Reply:Yes, all of them except verison because they do not have sim cards in their phones, but if the phone is unlocked then yes!
Reply:yeh they are suppose to but u probably nees 2 + minutes
Reply:only if its the same carrier
Reply:it shuld work perfectly as long as its not verizon or metro cuz they dont hav sim cards
Reply:yes but some countries they dont due to coverage,
Reply:Not with Verizon, their phones dont have cards. I think it will in other phones if they take sim cards.

Can you used two sim cards on one phone?

I have tried it before with one cingular sim card and one t-mobile sim card. But will cingular let me activate another sim card on the same cell phone that another cingular sim card was activated on? Thanks

Can you used two sim cards on one phone?
u can use 2 simcards on 1 phone from the same carrier. if its an unlocked phone u could use a simcard from another carrier
Reply:no. it wont work.
Reply:yes.go to this link
Reply:nope i don't think so unless you're phone is like reely cool
Reply:I have Suncom and i can change out SIM cards on my phone and they both work as long as its unblocked
Reply:I have Nextel and I can put a Boost sim card in it. In the old Boost phones, you can also put a Nextel sim card. When Boost caught on that Nextel customers were buying cheaper Boost phones and putting in Nextel sim cards, Boost changed their software. A new model of a Nextel Motorola runs for about $350.00. The same phone model that Boost sells for about $200.00. Nextel has a real racket going. My point is that if your phone is unblocked and it's an older model, it may allow you to use two sim cards.
Reply:As long as the phone will recognise both cards then there should be no problem
Reply:yes, but you need to unblock the phone and buy a dual sim adaptor. With the adaptor you can just go to conf. and change of sim.
Reply:If you keep swaping ur sim card.. yes

What Verizon phones have sim cards?

I have Verizon and i have a sidekick and only some verizon phones have sim cards so what phones do

What Verizon phones have sim cards?
Verizon does NOT use sim cards. They are a CDMA provider. There is a Blackberry world phone that was released recently that can accept a sim card, but does not use one in the US. It still runs on CDMA in the US. The GSM part of the phone is only used when traveling with the phone outside of the US.

You will NOT be able to use the Sidekick with Verizon or ANY other CDMA provider.
Reply:The only phone that does use a sim card is the Blackberry 8830, however it will not work with a previously used sim card. I would ask why you want to use the sim card in your new phone?
Reply:Verizon uses CDMA, the Verizon phones don't have sim cards, none of them.

Is it possible to buy sim cards of India (while in india)? And... How reliable are the networks?? I?

I will be there for a month and want to bring a cell phone. Do you think is a good idea?

Is it possible to buy sim cards of India (while in india)? And... How reliable are the networks?? I?
Sim cards are very cheap - about 99 Rs. Hutch is very good. Really depends on where you are going in India. If in the rural areas, the reliability of ANY service is in question. However BSNL is supposedly great for that - but (from what I recall) BSNL prepaid is not available.

Please make sure you unlock your cell phone. You'll need to call your service provider to do that before leaving for India. This is to allow other sim cards to function in your phone. The other thing is to make sure your phone is tri-band.

To get a SIM card - u'll need copies of your passport, drivers license, proof of local address (hotel/rent/relatives), passport sized picture. and you're all set!
Reply:it all depends , which place you going to.. i know about north...and theres no problem in metros... dont worry
Reply:Yes you can buy sim card of India. It's very cheap. Sometimes even you get it for free ( the initial money you give is given back to you in form of talk time). You need a passport size photo , an identity proof and a local residential proof.

The reliability of the network depends where you will be using your phone. If you are going to stay in kolkata or any city , Airtel or Hutch is best. I am personally using Airtel and i am very much satisfied with it.

you can browse the websites of the service providers:

1. www.airtelworld.com

2. www.hutch.in

BSNL which is a government service provider is a good option if you want to roam all around in india even to remote places where only BSNL will work but you can not trust the network!

If you have an old phone and you switch the sim cards:?

would the old phone act like the current phone you have? and would it still be the same number as the current phone since you switched the sim cards?

If you have an old phone and you switch the sim cards:?
If the phone you have is unlocked and you switch sim cards, the phone number will stay the same and all your phone numbers nd other stuff will automatically be transferred
Reply:well i dont really understand your question but ill do my best:

your number and plan is within your sim card, not your phone. the old phone will have the same applications (games, ringtones) no matter what sim card is in it, but you have to save your contacts and pictures to your sim card in order for them to be moved to your old phone.
Reply:Yes! And you get your credit if you have it on your old one!!!

Why there is no cell phone with two sim cards made by big manufacturer?

Today we carry cell phone that is user but not friendly...

Why there is no cell phone with two sim cards made by big manufacturer?
Money is in the cell phone service and a little in the product. There is no money for big Corp. on some 5 cent sim card. Hell Motorola just chunks them in thier phones for fun

Why do our cell phones have sim cards?

why did they switch to sim cards when they worked without them?

Why do our cell phones have sim cards?
hehe. If you have a SIM card then u are on a GSM network (cingular, T-Mobile, etc.). Sim cards Rock because you can easily switch between phones. Unlike old TDMA phones where you had to get your phone all reprogrammed if you lost it, broke it, or replaced it.
Reply:It makes it much easier to move internal directory information to a new phone. The information gets stored in a memory chip anyway, and the makers concluded that making the chip movable would be a good idea. They were right.
Reply:bec it stores the contacts and all the ring tones and so forth
Reply:I think it's because when people want to get a new phone or switch to another phone, they can have all their contacts available on the sim card and just use it on the other phone. It makes it a lot easier than having to re-add everyone again.
Reply:only some phones have sims cards. like cingular. sims cards are used to store memory. so lets say you save some phone numbers pics and stuff in ur phone, and u broke ur phone, well they can remove the sim card put it in another phone and all ur stuff is there.
Reply:They enjoy being difficult, Big Brother is watching.

Can you buy mobile phones or sim cards in virgin megastores?

I have vouchers to spend in virgin shops. Can you buy phones from their megastores in the UK or do they have virgin phone shops? I've never seen any

Can you buy mobile phones or sim cards in virgin megastores?
Yes you can definatly buy the mobile phones from the stores also the simcards which i think are usually £10.

*#2156112+#21 this will unlock it to all networks.
Reply:http://www3.thetravelinsider.info/roadwa...

I use this website....
Reply:Yes there is you can go to you local market and get it unlocked for about £10. Or try ebay as you can get a code and unlock it yourself for a few pounds.
Reply:don.t try unlock codes yourself as you could end up locking it completely go to a local trader that does unlocking look in your local directory or yellow pages to find a store near you they usually charge £10 and it takes a couple of minutes and it will take any sim but remember if it not got 3g facility it will not take the 3 network sims linda
Reply:Take it to one of the small independant mobile phone shops they will do it for you but they may ask for ID
Reply:Go to a local mobile shop and take some id with you to confirm phone is yours and not stolen,

I would advise against doing down market as they dont use proper equipment.

I had a phone unlocked down market for £10 and since then battery drained out a whole lot quicker!

A local mobile phone dealer would change the same as someone down the market but at least you know its been done properly.
Reply:yeah you can purchase a unlockin code from ebay just tab in unlockin codes an then the phone model .....unlockin codes d600 etc

it will then give you search engine for those particular codes usually costs about 1.49 i just bought one for my nokia. the unlocking code will be sent almost exacly. hope this helps

What are sim cards made off apart from the plastic obviously the metal contacts?

can some one please give me the answer with some kind of proof instead off i think its brass or plated or gold etc thanks

What are sim cards made off apart from the plastic obviously the metal contacts?
Sim cards are plastic. The contacts are gold plated metal (probably tin) wires from the contacts are bonded onto metalised contacts on the silicon substrate of a LSI chip.

The chip is predominately silicon with some added impurities (arsenic, phosphorus, silicon dioxide etc) which are diffused / implanted to form the electronic circuit.

Do all pay as you go phones require SIM cards?

If so how often do you have to replace them and do pay as you go phones have texting and a camera?

Do all pay as you go phones require SIM cards?
The only sim card pay as you go in USA is At%26amp;T,or T Mobile.

Sprint and Verizon are not sim. The sim card is just an identy card telling the network you are a subcriber and have access.
Reply:You can use just about any kind of cell phone for prepaid service, depending on your carrier. Not all carriers use SIM cards, so you don't necessarily need one.

Here are a few of the top companies for prepaid:

AT%26amp;T Wireless

Verizon Wireless

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store...

T-Mobile

http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/prep...
Reply:not all pay as you go phones need a sim card. Only gsm networks use sim cards. Also, if you go with a carrier who uses sim cards you only need one and it will last forever unless you lose it.

Do T-mobile prepaid phones use GSM sim cards?

I am planning on buying a t mobile prepaid phone, but i dont like any of the phones featured on their site. i was thinking about buying a different unlocked phone and putting in the sim card of the t mobile phone. Can you insert SIM cards in Prepaid Phones?
It should!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ask the people who work there.
Reply:I'm not sure about Virgin Mobile, but I have done it with a T-Mobile phone. And everything worked just fine. Your best bet would be to just call your Virgin Mobile rep or stop at one of those kiosks in the mall. They should be able to help you out.
Reply:yeah my tracfone uses a sim card so I suppose yes
Reply:no u cant insert sim cards to virgin mobile phones... its impossible
Reply:If you are in the US and Canada the answer is no.

Virgin Mobile in Canada and the States runs on the CDMA network - not GSM. In the US, Virgin runs on the Sprint network, in Canada it runs on the Bell Network. So the phones don't have a sim card slot.

If you are in the UK, South Africa, Australia and France - where Virgin Mobile uses the GSM networks then yes you can insert your own Sim Card provided that you have the Virgin Mobile phone unlocked first.

What information do sim cards hold?

Can they hold tone, video, or picture files?

What information do sim cards hold?
Sim cards have your phone number and provisioning programmed to it and also store your contacts, and depending on the phone you are using, they can store text messages. They do not store anything else.
Reply:They hold absolutly everything on the phone.

Any other sim cards actually work in sidekick3?

tmobile doesnt work here so im trying to see if any other sim cards work in it so i can use it where i live. please help

Any other sim cards actually work in sidekick3?
it will work only if the sidekick is unlocked GSM phone. if not sorry
Reply:no only tmobile
Reply:You'd probably need to get a SIM unlock on the phone. If you've been with TMo for more than 90 days, you can ask them and they will give you the unlock code. Just tell them you're travelling to Europe or something....:)

What fequencies must you have on a gsm phone in order for it to work with Tmobile sim cards?

Hi I,

T-MOBILE: Runs GSM only, and only at PCS (1900 MHz) frequency.

AT%26amp;T uses TDMA and GSM, as separate networks, and at both PCS (1900 MHz) and cellular (800/850 MHz) frequency.

Hi I have a question about international sim cards??

Ok so my boyfriend thinks I am in a country that im not and he wants to call me??? (Im planning a surprise for him)Is there any sim card that I use just to give him an international number with the dialing code of a specific country?? He thinks I am in Argentina but im in London?? Is there any possible way that he could call me in London on my mobile but on an Argentinian mobile number and dailing code??

Hi I have a question about international sim cards??
just say that you have a uk sim card which explains why its a uk number - for exaple a o2 my country sim card, you can use that in almost any country but it had a uk number.

Does a mobile phone that is locked on T-mobile UK also accept T-mobile Sim Cards from other countries?

I want to use it in the Czech Republic where there is also a T-mobile operator.

Does a mobile phone that is locked on T-mobile UK also accept T-mobile Sim Cards from other countries?
probably not
Reply:Probably not, each network provider has a 5 digit code of its own and t-mobile uk is different to other countries so you'll need to have it unlocked before it'll work.

Can you swap SIM cards between cell phones?

I have two Motorola cell phones, different models, one is unlocked, the other has Cingular service.

Can you swap SIM cards between cell phones?
most sim cards you can use in other phones but has to be same service. Your sim card mainly saves your numbers that you have programed to it so if you have the same service then you can use it in any phone.
Reply:If it's a cingular SIM card, yes, otherwise they will both only work in the unlocked phone.
Reply:you can try
Reply:You can swap the SIMs between phones no problem. I do it all the time because I have an unlocked phone I loan out to friends who are in-between phones. That darned phone has worked with about 12 diff SIMS so far.
Reply:YES U COULD IF THE ONE WITH THE PLAN HAD THE SIM CARD FIRST
Reply:yes you can but has to be phone that will take the sim cards other phones have different ones.
Reply:You sure can.

Has anyone bought one of those sim cards you can take abroad?

I cannot remember the name of the firm but you buy them on line for about £35 pounds and can put them in your existing phone. Just wondered what other peoples' experiences were.

Has anyone bought one of those sim cards you can take abroad?
When I lived in Spain it was cheaper to buy one of their own sims and use it I had Vodafone and my mate from spain still txt me on that number as I can top up with the UK vouchers. I has a friend who had one of those sims she said it was a pile of cr@p as she struggled topping it up and getting a signal.
Reply:If your not already with vodafone your probably better off just getting a vodafone pay as you go sim and using vodafone passport. You pay 75p connection for each call you make and then the same charge per minute as in UK. EG if you're on std Vodafone tariff, if you call back to uk after 7:30pm it will cost you 75p connection and then just 5p per minute after that. If you receive a call when abroad it just costs you 75p how ever long the call is. Texting is expensive with Vodafone though. I use vodafone sim card for calls when abroad and my 3 contract phone for texts as they are only 25p on 3 network in Europe.

Using the iPhone with other SIM cards?

I have an at%26amp;t sim card in my at%26amp;t phone. I really want an iPhone, but the plans are too expensive. So, can I take the provided SIM card out and put my SIM card in the phone? Will it work?

Using the iPhone with other SIM cards?
nope apple has provisioned the SIM cards to work only in the iPhone. So another AT%26amp;T's SIM card will not work. I think its lame but that was one of the conditions that our lovely Apple made in order for us to get the stupid phone to begin with. Sorry dude.

Sim cards how much credit do you get automatically?

which network, out of orange, o2, virgin, t mobile, and vodafone gives you the most credit when you buy a pay as you go. I know o2 gives you £1 but you have to top up £10 first to get it.

Sim cards how much credit do you get automatically?
Orange give £1 as do vodafone and o2. Virgin and t mobile give you nothing
Reply:chk out here baby..u will get all network and handset information.
Reply:Well I can speak for the vodafone side as that what I have. When i first got my sim, it came with £1.50 credit, and then i got another £1.50 once i had registered it. However this was about 4 years ago, so it may have changed.

Do Nextel sim cards work with other carrier phones?

I like the service plans with Nextel, but not the phones. So can I get a phone from nextel, and then just insert the sim chip I get with it in like a T-Mobile or Cingular phone and will it still work? Unlocked or locked? I always just assumed that the sim chips hold all the info and the phone wouldnt matter? But before I take any steps, I wanna be sure.

Do Nextel sim cards work with other carrier phones?
Nextel uses iDEN technology, as opposed to GSM (Cingular %26amp; T-Mobile). They are completely different, so you cannot use a Nextel sim card on a different carriers phone.

What kind of sim cards are there. Would anything I buy of ebay work in my phone?

Details would be nice.

What kind of sim cards are there. Would anything I buy of ebay work in my phone?
Tough question, actually. If you're with the Cingular network not all SIM cards work everywhere. Once they are registered to your number you can travel with no problems, just make sure you have the SIM card that is for your market when you register the new card. When it comes to types, Cingular standard is currently 64k or 64k 3G. Where I live has a very different SIM card than one that is used in the South East part of my state. Contact your local store of the service you are with to make sure.
Reply:the cell phone companies have there own sim cards which can't be used on another companies network. There are ways around this but i would advise you to just get one from an authorized dealer. They are reasonably priced.

Since verizon doesn't use sim cards, can I just go In and get any phone activated?

I have a plan there (At Verizon), but I hate my old piece of junk phone. A friend of mine got me a nice phone from the recycling center where he works, but the phone was never deactivated. Will they let me use it if it wasn't reported stolen?

Since verizon doesn't use sim cards, can I just go In and get any phone activated?
If it is a Verizon approved CDMA phone yes they will activate it. You may be able to do it online by logging into your verizon wireless account.
Reply:As long as its a cdma phone there should be no problem, if you do have to buy a new verizon phone don't buy the razr, buy any lg or samsung phone.

Which mobille companies in the United States use sim cards?

I know T-Mobile and Cingular/ATT do. But who else? Thanks!

Which mobille companies in the United States use sim cards?
T-Mobile and Cingular are the main two. Verizon is on a CDMA network and Sprint is not a GSM provider either (GSM uses sim cards). Pretty much the rest of the world uses GSM technology, which means an unlocked phone that is tri or quad band is good all over the world!
Reply:ummm wrong. every new phone uses a SIM card to store data, with the exception of a few including iphone (it has a SIM but you store contacts on the phone not the card) plus you forgot nextel, virgin mobile, and alltel. you should research your answers buddy. Report Abuse

Can i use the sim cards on smartphone which are uses on cellphone?

if any one know the answer pls forward send to me

Can i use the sim cards on smartphone which are uses on cellphone?
If it is a Smartphone that is meant to have a SIM card, yes.

If you are with Fido, all the phones you get from them use a SIM card, and you can put one you already have into your new Smartphone.

However, I think that Telus Mobility uses a different system that doesn't have SIM cards in their phones.

So, it depends on your network, and if your Smartphone has a slot for the SIM card. If you got yours from Fido, it will.

How do you save ringtones to SIM cards????????????????

I have a boost i415 and i might get a new phone so i'm tryin' 2 save mi ringtones

How do you save ringtones to SIM cards????????????????
You don't. The SIM card cannot hold or store tones or graphics. If the phone has a memory card, you may be able to move it to there. or if you can connect the phone to a computer you may be able to transfer the sound file.

Sorry
Reply:I think you can't! Only messages and phonebook.

Good luck.
Reply:You can't. Ringtones are download to the phone itself, not the SIM card.

Can phones without sim cards get service?

my friend gave me a vcast without a sim card. he told me his friend cgave it to him but im not sure weather he was lying or not. i want to know weather i can get service or not.

Can phones without sim cards get service?
Since it's a Verizon phone, then it doesn't use a sim card. You can activate it with Verizon, but it will not work with a GSM provider such as T-Mobile or AT%26amp;T. Verizon's phones and network are CDMA, which doesn't use sim cards.
Reply:The Vcast means that its a verizon phone... it actually has to have a plan with them. the phone doesnt use a sim card because its not gsm. Most likely if he just gave you the phone its worthless unless you have service with the company. gsm phones can use any carrier if its unlocked but not cdma phones.
Reply:i dont think so.
Reply:i believe verizon phones don't have simcards.

I spilt water on my cingular phone. will the P168 tri band phone work if i switch the sim cards?

I have cingular will the sim card work on the P168 3.5" tri band MP3-MP4-PDA Cell Phone. This phone looks a little like the Iphone

I spilt water on my cingular phone. will the P168 tri band phone work if i switch the sim cards?
Att network is GSM850/1900

The P168 is a GSM900/1800/1900 phone and is missing the GSM850 band

The phone would work if you are in a area that ATT is GSM1900

The phone will get no service if you are in a GSM850 area, this is a bad choice for att service

The short version - Dont buy this phone

Any phone you purchase, make sure it is at least GSM850/1900

Cheers

Does anyone know if you can get genie sim cards for a vodafone network mobile phone?

I know you can get the for o2 network mobiles but I wondered if you can get them for vodafone as I am on vodafone now. And if you can get them where can you get them from?

Thanks x

Does anyone know if you can get genie sim cards for a vodafone network mobile phone?
Genie is an old part of bt cellnet which was taken over by o2 so they are the only ones who sell "genie" sims. all of the networks do offers at certain times. At the moment on vodafone its just free weekend calls and text if you spend £5.00 credit in the week or free just weekend texts if you spend over £2.50 but under £5.00.

Want to get the Nextel i580s to work with the T-Mobile sim cards. Will it work?

I have two Nextel i580s that use sim cards, will my T-Mobile sim cards work with the Nextel phones EVEN if I try to get them unlocked?

Want to get the Nextel i580s to work with the T-Mobile sim cards. Will it work?
No. Nextel's phones and network are iDEN. T-Mobile's phones and network are GSM. While both use sim cards, they are still two different technologies and are not compatible with each other. iDEN phones will only work with iDEN networks, and GSM phones will only work with GSM networks.

Do all cell phones carry sim cards? Even if you can't see it?

I can't find my phone's sim card. I checked where sim cards usually are. I want to use my phone with a different sim card. My phone is the Kyocera KX160, not a very good phone but its ok. Is the sim card inside the phone, will I need to disassemble it to find the sim.

Do all cell phones carry sim cards? Even if you can't see it?
GSM uses sim cards, CDMA doesnt, the kyocera kx-160 is CDMA, it has all its network programming etc inside the phone rather than the sim card
Reply:not all phone use sim cards
Reply:No, not all cell phones have SIM cards. There are two main types of networks that are used, GSM and TDMA. GSM uses SIM cards, TDMA does not. If your phone does NOT have a SIM card you have a TDMA phone. Most carriers run on GSM, which is better quality, but there are a few TDMA carriers still out there. Most likely you will need to upgrade your phone and in doing so you may lose all of the info stored in your current phone unless you can find an agent to assist you in loading onto your new phone/SIM.

How can i make switching of two sim cards automatic? Is it possible to make?

Not sure what you mean, but supposing you mean that you want to use 2 different sim cards on the same phone, then your phone needs to be unlocked. This means that your phone needs to have the restriction placed by whichever company sold it to you removed. Most phone companies won't do this until after your contract expires or you meet x number of months on a prepaid plan. On the other hand there are some people and software that unlock phones. It may not be legal.

How can i make switching of two sim cards automatic? Is it possible to make?
I dont think it is possibe.

Has anyone tried to activate one of the "old AT&T(dark blue) sim cards that are for sale on ebay.?

I have an old plan from the original AT%26amp;T (before Cingular) and I don't want to change my plan/rate.A comparable plan/rate would cost about $40 more a month .I think I might have a problem with my current sim card. There are AT%26amp;T sim cards for sale(dark blue)on ebay and I would like to know if these actually work.

Has anyone tried to activate one of the "old AT%26amp;T(dark blue) sim cards that are for sale on ebay.?
last time I checked, cingular was changing the network so you have to upgrade your phone and sim card. I went and checked ebay, and I could only find the NEW AT%26amp;T sim cards that are dark blue. (remember, cingular is now at%26amp;t again) No one would still be selling a sim card that is like 6 years old...

Can you switch out SIM cards on Cell Phones?

I was wondering if you could put a Boost Mobile SIM card into a cingular phone? I hope this makes sense.

Can you switch out SIM cards on Cell Phones?
No. The only thing u can do with a Boost sim is put it in a nextel phone, thats bout it. Cingular is on a whole different thing. Nextel/Boost are iDen phones. I think cingular is GSM. Even if the phone is unlocked it won't work. Just a tip; if your stuck with a phone u don't use and can use a (little) extra cash, go to www.sellyourcell.com. They buy your used cell if its still working, the shippings free and the send u a check in around 2 weeks. Hope I helped.
Reply:no they are different carriers and it wont work
Reply:i tried it before, it wont work.
Reply:You can use a boost card in a nextel phone or a nextel sim in a boost phone if the codeplug of the phone has been MOD.But from boost to tmobile that i think is the only other Carrier that uses Sim cards the answer is no you cant like the girl answer before they are different types of network.

When will the LG voyager mobile phone be coming to canada (ontario)? is it compatible with sim cards?

The LG voyager combines touch screen capabilities with a flip screen and full QWERTY keyboard. It has a ton of features including a 2.0 megapixel camera and microsd memory card slot. Unfortunately, it is not offered with any of the mobile carriers in Ontario.

Do all phones out now have sim cards?

i have a t-mobile motarolla slider phone and if the below statement is true can i buy the cheapest prepaid t-mobile/at%26amp;t phone and take out the sim card and attach it to the motarolla slider that i have and pay monthly so that i no longer have to pay monthly and just buy phone cards and buy minuets as i go?

There are 2 different types of networks that are commonly used by service providers in the US. T-Mobile, Cellular One and AT%26amp;T use GSM networks while Verizon, US Cellular and Sprint use CDMA networks.

Phones for GSM networks use sim cards and phones for CDMA networks do not. So any phone from Verizon, US Cellular and Sprint will not have a sim card.

Do all phones out now have sim cards?
I agree with one of the answers below, most phones are locked to a service provider. ex. if you have t-mobile sim card- it will only work on a t-mobile phone. There are websites that you can buy an "unlock code" for about 20.00, just do a google search or use the website below. That way you can use your sim card, just keep in mind that t-mobile won't be able to troubleshoot any problems you have if its a phone that they don't sell or "support"- hope this helps!
Reply:All GSM phones have SIM cards (phones from T-mobile, AT%26amp;T, etc.). A T-Mobile prepaid (or postpaid) SIM card will work in any T-Mobile phone, however, it will not work in other GSM carriers' phones (such as AT%26amp;T) unless the phone has been unlocked. Phones are almost always locked to the carrier unless they have been unlocked to work on other GSM networks. Once unlocked, a GSM phone will work on any GSM carrier for voice, but data services may not always function property. If you contact T-Mobile customer care, they may be able to port your existing phone number onto the new prepaid card. Otherwise, you will get a new phone number when you activate the new prepaid SIM card.
Reply:No, not all cell phones have SIM cards. I have Verizon as my service provider, and they use that CDMA technology, which doesn't require one in my PDA.

Can all samsung phone use sim cards?

does all samsung phone uses sim cards?

Can all samsung phone use sim cards?
No, some samsung phones actually run on the CDMA network (Verizon, Sprint, and their affiliate companies). GSM phones (AT%26amp;T, T-Mobile) from samsung will all use SIM cards. If there is a particular phone you are trying to find, perhaps go to the samsung website and search under GSM phones, or search under one of the GSM companies I mentioned to see if the phone you are looking for is GSM or is CDMA

As a side note, one phone by Samsung works on both the CDMA and GSM networks, but the GSM function only works when outside of North America in a country with no CDMA access. This would be the Samsung ACE smartphone. I'm sure there are other phones like this from Samsung and other manufacturers though.

Hope this helps some eh?
Reply:No not at all. Samsung phones do not all use sim cards. It all depends on your wireless carrier, because some carriers like AT%26amp;T require a sim card to function while Verizon has the Samsung Glide, that does not require a sim card.
Reply:No. they have to have a sim card slot, or it is not possible. Samsung carries phones for companies which use completely different technology and no sim cards

Does virgin mobile use SIM cards in their phones?

To put it blunty, I really like one of the cell phones that Virgin Mobile sells. I'm wondering if I could buy one and literally pop my SIM card into it. Simplistic/naive thinking, but I thought I'd ask and see what happens.

Does virgin mobile use SIM cards in their phones?
, Depends on the model, el -chepo... no...
Reply:No, not with U.S. model Virgin Mobile phones, they are CDMA models. Virgin Mobile UK and a few other euro countries have sim card or gsm models.
Reply:yes all prepaid phones use sim cards.
Reply:Most prepaid phones use SIM cards except for Virgin Mobile. It doesn't matter what type of Virgin Mobile phone you have, ALL of the VM phones don't use Sim Cards
Reply:Yes all digital mobile phones use a SIM card, you may find that Virgin lock the handset so they only accept Virgin SIM's so it would be best to check before you buy.

Do new cell phones no longer come w/ sim cards?

I'm shopping around for a new phone but need to make sure it comes w/ a sim card in case I change phones again and because I hate those SD Cards. So far in checking out descriptions of new phones, nothing seems to include a sim card. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate the help...

Do new cell phones no longer come w/ sim cards?
a SIM card has nothing to do with SD card.

An SD card is for storing stuff,

while a SIM card is for GSM phones (AT%26amp;T and Tmobile). GSM is just the frequency and technology that the phone uses.
Reply:GSM phones use SIM cards and CDMA phones do not. Some countries have both GSM and CDMA networks, while others have only one type.

Some GSM phones are sold with a SIM card while others are sold without one - in the latter case, you just buy a SIM card separately from your network of choice.
Reply:well perhaps I can help. I sell cell phones for walmart. only two major companies use sim cards. At%26amp;t and Tmobile. Tmobile puts sim cards in the box and at%26amp;t does not. as far as an sd card that is something totally seperate, and is used for extra memory, and depending on your phone you might need it. I hope this helps
Reply:I'm pretty sure all phones come with sim cards. They just don't mention it on the description of the phones because the sim card are provided by the cell phone company.
Reply:All ATT and T-Mobile phones come with Sim cards. You can get a high rated phone with a sim card at zero cost here: http://www.tmiwireless.com/?aid=24197

Do European SIM cards work in cingular pay as you go phones?

i want to buy a 20 dollar pay as you go phone online. will i be able to just throw away the sim card that comes with it and just insert a Vodafone orange or movistar SIM card while in Spain? it has GSM capabilities and dual band so will Cingular keep charging me for something and will the SIM cards work?

Do European SIM cards work in cingular pay as you go phones?
No unfortunatley it will not just like any other GSM provider in the us it must be unlocked first any GSM phone could be used after it is unlocked with any SIM card. and cingular wont unlock its prepaid phones only postpaid phones for international travel. if your getting it offline just get a cheap unlocked phone from ebay cause it will cost 20-40 dollars to get a phone that is locked unlocked. hope that helps

If you have an unlocked phone that uses sim cards can you use it on a non sim card network like verizon?

ok so if i have new cell that uses a sim card, can it work with a non sim card network (verizon)

If you have an unlocked phone that uses sim cards can you use it on a non sim card network like verizon?
GSM technology (the kind that uses SIM cards) is different from CDMA technology (no SIM card, used on Verizon and Sprint networks) are two different technologies and the phones off one kind do not work on the other kind. I believe it is not possible to use Sprint on Verizon and vice versa.

There are a few phones on the market (pretty expensive ones, at that) that are capable of working on both technologies, but you're talking 100s of $$ for one of those.
Reply:i doubt it

verizon has a different cellular technology from sim card using companies like at%26amp;t

verizon has cdma phones while at%26amp;t has gsm phones
Reply:no you can't the only way a sim cards work is throughout the cingular and tomobile era!!!!
Reply:No, phones that use sim cards are GSM and non sim card phones are CDMA networks. It will not work.
Reply:No you can not. Vzw has a secure network which is code division multiple access (cdma).

Other networks are not geared for this technology.

Can you transfer cellphone SIM cards from one to another?

I'm trying to get all my contacts from my old cellphone without rekeying them all into my new one. The phones are from the same mfr., so I figured it shouldn't be a problem. Will it work?

Can you transfer cellphone SIM cards from one to another?
within the same carrier, you can. if you saved the contacts to your sim they will just transfer over well.
Reply:in the contacts section of the phone copy all the names from the phone to the sim and then when you put the sim in your other phone they will stay with your sim.
Reply:Only GSM technology supported phones u can do it ....

Since u have used word Sim card ... YOU CAN DO IT ...
Reply:it should do if the phone accepts sims from the provider! some phones only accept same sims - is it unlocked?

Is there any other sim cards that will work in a t-mobile sidekick?

because i am tryin to buy a sidekick3, however, t-mobile services doesnt work where i am from. i have a sprint phone right now but i really want a sidekick3, some1 please help me if you know anything about this.

Is there any other sim cards that will work in a t-mobile sidekick?
Visit a Verizon Wireless store %26amp; see if they have service in your area. Don't get so hung up on one phone either. I learned that when working for a well known wireless company 2 years ago. I want a Treo or a Blackberry, but I'm not paying $399 for either one. Cingular might offer the Sidekick that you want. Check their website, call them or go into one of their stores. Cingular %26amp; T-Mobile are the only ones who offer SIM card phones.

What is your say on the registration of cell phones and sim cards?

are you for or against this action considering all or several aspects that may be involved with it? also, a site (regarding the topic) recommendation will be appreciated.

What is your say on the registration of cell phones and sim cards?
Cellphones and sim cards should be registered under the names of the purchasers to trace illegal activities.

Can you use a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 with Cingular plans and SIM cards?

So that I could just buy the phone from T-Mobile and transfor my contacts and stuff to the Sidekick. And I know that the use the same SIM card so thats taken care of.

Can you use a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 with Cingular plans and SIM cards?
Only if its unlocked. See if you can find an unlocked one on ebay.
Reply:It won't work even if it is unlocked. The purpose of unlocking a Sidekick is to be able to use it overseas with a different company that has access to the Sidekick network. In the United States, T-Mobile is the only company that provides access to this network. If you stick a Cingular SIM card in an unlocked Sidekick, unlike most other GSM phones, it will just continue to search and reject your SIM card.

Many people have tried this and it's failed - save your money and either switch to T-Mobile or look at what data devices Cingular offers. (I personally like the Peral in their line-up.)

What information do sim cards hold? Can they hold tone, video, or picture files?

The 32 kb simcard is only capable of saving around 10 text messages and around 20 contacts...nothing else!

Switch Sim cards from motorola to blackberry?
there should be no problem. i had cingular, they use sim cards too, and i would switch all the time. the only thing u have to worry about if if the blackberry is on the same tower frequencies. when i first got a phone i wanted an a certain model but when i went to get it the people at cingular told me that the phone didn't adapt to their new technology. it is a blackberry so u should have no problem

Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?

If so, can you take the SIM card out of the "cheapest" pay as you go phone possible and put it into an already owned "nicer" phone? What must be done first, and in what ways do they have to be compatible? Thanks!

Do Pay as You Go Phones Utilize SIM Cards?
the cingular go phones take sim cards and i think the t mobile prepaid does as well. the verizon pre paid phones do not. in order for you to be able to just take the card out and put it in another phone with no hassle, it needs to be the same carrier, i.e. a cingular go phone sim card inserted into another cingular phone, as opposed to a t mobile phone. hope that helps =]
Reply:yes
Reply:No most of them don't
Reply:First, many wireless carriers in the USA do not use SIM Cards, therefore, finding a company, especially a Pay as you go carrier, that uses a SIM card will be a hard one. The real only two carriers that offer any Coverage and use SIM Cards, are Cingular and T-Mobile. Carriers like Verizon Wireless will not be compatible with your idea.

If you have verified that the phone is a SIM Card using phone and then you need to unlock it. Most people, including me on yahoo answers will not know the long process of unlocking the phone. Many SIM Card using wireless carriers will know how to help you do this.

Your final answer is yes, they can be, it is just risky and may be difficult.

Do the new att sim cards work in the cingular phones?

I am thinking that they dont, but has anyone tried this before?

Do the new att sim cards work in the cingular phones?
Yes it should perfectly. A at%26amp;t sim card should work in a Cingular phone. A sim card registers the phones Serial number to the network. If the serial number is in Cingulars system it should work........ Cingulars and at%26amp;t's sim cards register to the same towers.
Reply:when Cingular bought "old AT%26amp;T" it wouldn't unless the phone was unlocked because they were separate networks (though not for good reason - AT%26amp;T's GSM %26amp; phones could conceivably have been integrated into the Cingular network w/o changes). AT%26amp;T also had a TDMA network that couldn't be integrated. Report Abuse

T-Mobile %26amp; Cingular (At%26amp;t) use the SIM card technology. Verizon and Sprint do not. Phones with SIM card features are better because they can be used overseas as you mentioned. Therefore, you will have a hard time using your Verizon or Sprint phone overseas..

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?

I'm on T-mobile and I was wondering if I could upgrade my phone by just buying a phone and then using my SIM card that I already have.

I just want to know because I kind of want a sidekick and I can't wait until my contract is up next spring.

Thanks in advance!

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?
Sure, upgrades usually use your existing SIM anyway. You're free to buy a new phone any time. Probably you're eligible for partial discounts right now, based on your contract ending next year, which you can check online at my.t-mobile.com.
Reply:Yup, you can do that. This way you can keep your contacts, pics, etc. You may want to add the sidekick unlimited plan which includes unlimited txt, internet, email, etc. There also supposed to be a cool new sidekick coming out this year, check that out!

Enjoy your sidekick
Reply:Normally, you could buy a phone that you can just insert your card in... however, Sidekick is a phone that is offered by T-Mo only w/ a plan, and is therefore locked. However, if you want other phones, you can get them from sites like:

cti-miami.com

welectronics.com

And you can just look up phone sellers online. Trust me, there are some way better phones than the sidekick for texting. Look up some of HTC's phones.
Reply:Yes that will work. Once the sim card is in the new phone everything will be just as it did in the other phone.
Reply:Yes you should be able to. Should be very easy.

I know Verizon phones don't use SIM cards so how do I switch phones for Verizon without cancelling my contract

Can someone help me out? I'd really like to get the LG VX10000 or the Blackberry Pearl when theyre available. I know Verizon doesnt use SIM cards....so is my only option to buy a phone from ebay and activate it online? Does that cost money?

I know Verizon phones don't use SIM cards so how do I switch phones for Verizon without cancelling my contract
Last year I bought a phone on eBay, to activate I had to call Verizon, and give them the serial number, and some other information and then they programmed the phone. I tried to do it on-line but it didn't work for some reason. However it was super easy to switch phones, one phone call and about 10 minutes while it programmed. There was no charge and I

didn't have to change my contract. It might be different for you because you may have a different contract, but I have one of the most basic plans they offer and there was no activation fee or other charges associated with switching phones.

As far as the SIM card goes, if you had one it would basically transfer your information (stored numbers, text messages, pictures etc.) when you took it out of one phone and put it in another. So without a SIM card there is another option to switch your contacts without having to type them all back in yourself. If you go to the Verizon website, click on tools and applications and find the backup assistant, you download all your contacts to the website and upload them to your new phone, it may cost you a $1.99 but it might be worth it if you have a ton of contacts. I hope this helps.

Reply:Well, for my opinion verizon wirelless socks, but you can change phones, you just have to pay a little for activation, go to any verizon authorized dealer and then poof, they change phones(But you gonna have to pay)
Reply:You can change phones on verizon plan by going to the website to activate a new phone. If that doesn't work you can also call and they will do it for you. It does not cost to do this and your plan remains the same. You will have to re-enter your contacts on your new phone though.

Can I use Sprint/Nextel sim cards in a phone that's using Cingular sim card right now?

I heard that the Motorola i265 uses a sim card, I'm wondering if it's the same card as a quad band gsm phone uses...

Can I use Sprint/Nextel sim cards in a phone that's using Cingular sim card right now?
No, you can't. Even if you were to get the phone unlocked, it wouldn't work. Nextel uses iDEN technology, while Cingular uses GSM technology. Even though they both use sim cards, they are completely different technologies. An iDEN phone will ONLY work with a privider that uses iDEN technology. GSM phones will only work with providers that use GSM technologies.

There's a message that shows up on the Nextel phone when I put in the T-Mobile sim card that says,"Enter Special Code Now." What code would I need to put in in order the phone to work?

I have two Nextel i580s that use sim cards, will my T-Mobile sim cards work with the Nextel phones?
Soz the only way is to change phone or keep on nextel.
Reply:They're not going to work no matter what code you put in there, they use different technology on those two networks. T-Mobile is a GSM provider similar in fashion to AT%26amp;T, and Nextel is an I-den network. The two are not compatible.

Do AT&T Pay-as-you-go sim cards work in normal phones?

i dont like the way the pay-as-you-go AT%26amp;T looks, plus it is a little small for me. I would really like a blackberry, but i still want it to be pay as you go. I want the blackberry to be just like the normal blackberry, though, (all the features and stuff) would it work like a normal blackberry with a pay as you go at%26amp;t sim card? (and still be pay as you go)

Do AT%26amp;T Pay-as-you-go sim cards work in normal phones?
yes...you can use any unlocked world-phone, like the Blackberry and get the Sims from AT%26amp;T....in the US you have the choice of AT%26amp;T or T-Mobil sims!!

If you purchase the Blackberry (unlocked) on your own, then you don't need a contract from AT%26amp;T
Reply:yea i have pay as you go with at%26amp;t %26amp; i have a blackjack. But the internet is way more expensive then with a regular 2-go-phone i was on there lookin for a ringtone and it charged me like $2 for maybe 3mins of internet usage. you can buy the internet packages (the cheapest is $5). Or get ringtones from funformobile.com %26amp; send them from your computer to your phone. Other than that everything is the same.

sorry i went a lil off topic.

Do I buy a special SIM card for AIr Cards?

I have a 3G international unlocked air card, if i take it to europe, do I have to buy a special SIM card, or just a regular cell phone one?

Do I buy a special SIM card for AIr Cards?
Air cards use the exact same type of sim cards as cell phones do. They are the same size, come in the same packaging, etc. You can't use your current phone SIM card in your air card. You will need to activate another one to put into your aircard.

Hope that addresses your question.

2 sim cards alternating into one phone?

I have a Sony Ericsson 700i and its a triband. I am under T-Mobile USA and am planning to get another carrier called Globe, from the Philippines, and its a prepaid. I can't find my old phone so I am wondering if it is possible for me to use the two sim cards alternatively like I would put the t-mobile during the day here in the US since it is night in the philippines then the globe sim card at night because it is day over there. What problems would I run through? Complications to the phone and the data? Thanks a bunch.

I did search here about this but couldn't find the answer I want. I read about the dual sim card device though.

2 sim cards alternating into one phone?
the sim card stores your address book and also has the phone number

so if you change sim cards it is like it is a different phone

phone number and bill for sim card #1

phone number and bill for sim card #2

does one of your cards have cheap calls to the philipines?

so you wuld put in the card to call there?

that sounds like a pain to change sim cards twice each day

most people just take the sim card with them on vacation, and use it there
Reply:I was able to do that on my old phone, a Motorola, in the UK on pay as you go but it seems to vary from phone to phone about the availibility of doing this and when I changed sim it deleted my call records and text messages

Is there a way of having one mobile phone number on 2 separate sim cards and if so how or where can i get one?

I have a sim card in my PDA that has an unlimited data plan with T-mobile that allows me to surf the web using 3G. I am thinking of buying one of those Ultra mobile PC's which can also take advantage of mobile 3G but don't want to have to get an additional contract or keep swapping my sim card.

Is there a way of having one mobile phone number on 2 separate sim cards and if so how or where can i get one?
Couldn't you connect the PC to your mobile and use it as a modem? therefore not needing a new sim or contract.
Reply:The ESN (Electronic Serial Number.) is more important then the mobile number. The system uses the ESN to track the location of phones so that it can direct calls to that phone.

What you want to do in effect is have one phone number on two different ESN's. The system would be trying to direct a call to two different ESN, and would not result in the best possible service, particularly if the phones were located in different cells at the same time.

You would get a lot of drop outs, calls going astray and not being received at all. In short, the answer is NO, not legally, and if you could do it illegally your service would be cr.p
Reply:dont think so. ask your service provider.

Can I swap Sim cards from phone to phone?

I have bought a new phone with Tesco Mobile. They say I can keep my old number if i get a code from Orange, my current provider. Will this cost?

And can I use my current Sim card in my new phone?

Can I swap Sim cards from phone to phone?
Hi if you go to your local orange %26amp; ask them for a pac code then give the pac no. to tesco mobile your old no. will automatically be transferred over to your new phone . %26amp; no it wont cost anything to do! i was on orange %26amp; i had my no. transferred to o2 it took about 7 days to do hope this helps
Reply:no its free and its called a PAC code, just call orabge up and ask for it
Reply:If its on same network, or unlocked.. about a tenner to unlock..
Reply:i do but then again i have two american phones, but my uncle does it and he lives in manchester
Reply:Phones are usually locked to a network. You can swap sim cards from phone to phone IF you get an unlock code. You can get this done at many shops usually costing around £5.
Reply:Providing you are out of contract or had the number over 12 months if you are on pre pay you can request a PAC code (Port Authorisation Code) from Orange. You then give this to Tesco Mobile and they will port the number from Orange. As I said if it's over 12 months old and out of contract there will be charge.

You will be able to use your new sim in your current phone but it may be network locked at the moment, again Orange can provide you with the unlock code, and again if it's over 12 months old or out of contract this should also be free.

If you get stuck give me a shout.
Reply:yeh you can,if the other phones are the same network but normally if it is not then just take the phone to any shop (or the market because its alot cheaper to get unlocked to any network it costs a tenner)if you take it to a proper phone shop they will charge you loads and you sim will be sorted

Yes but the phone can only be unlocked by the company its locked to or some online unlocking web sites sell the codes. The phone will work anywhere in the world after it is unlocked but please check the band that the phone company in the country you are visiting to make sure they support the phone.

Sim cards?

hey.. i have a sim card from rogers and so, i have a cell number with my home address and name.

suppose i want to get another sim card with a different cell number but same name and home address.. is that possible??

thx a lot in a advance

Sim cards?
Yes, this is definitely possible, but if you have two active numbers then you would have to be paying a monthly service fee for both (as well as system access fee and 911 access on both).
Reply:Yes, this is possible to do!

Sim cards?

i was wondering if my razor sim card would work on a sidekick if i just switch it myself? thanks so much!!

Sim cards?
If you currently have T-Mobile, then it will work. However, you won't be able to use some of the features until you call T-Mobile and have the Sidekick Unlimited added. It's a mandatory package for the sidekick that's $20 per month, but it gives you unlimited text messaging, IM's, picture messaging, and web browsing.
Reply:yeah

a sim card goes on any fone...
Reply:depends on what service you have....if you have tmobile sim card, then the sidekick will work by just popping in your sim card.
Reply:yes, a sim card can work on any other phone model just make sure everything is saved to your card and not just your razr

Sim cards???

I'm thinking of buying tmobile to go phone, i was wondering what is a sim card? does the go phones have to have one in order for it to be useable???

Sim cards???
Your SIM card which is included in the go phones is like the brain of the phone. I t is used to track minutes used, your phone plan specifics, all the way to storing numbers, downloads, etc. When you upgrade to a different phone you can take your saved numbers with you and other information and transfer your SIM card to the new handset of your choice and be able to keep everything you have saved to the sim card on your new phone.T-mobile is by far the best wireless provider available today. I have been with them for 5 years. Their customer service is unbelievable.
Reply:A sim card is a small card that will give you the connection line.It is place behind your fhone near the batt.
Reply:TMO to go plans are really good, they have nokias for like $30 at wal-mart. to answer your question a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is a smart card roughly the size of a postage stamp that securely stores the key identifying a mobile phone service subscriber, as well as subscription information, saved telephone numbers, preferences, text messages and other information... also any chip can work in any phone so long as the phone is unlocked.

SIM cards.?

does any one know if these phones take SIM cards?

LG VX8500 White Chocolate Cel

T-Mobile MDA Vario Cell

T-Mobile Sidekick 3 Cell Phone

Right now i am subscribed to southern linc and i have a SUPER ugly phone.

I like linc because it has the push to talk service,

but if i were to buy a new phone it would need to take a SIM card.

And hopefully have push to talk.

I need help finding a phone that takes sim cards and has Instant linc(push to talk)

please help.

***10 POINTS FOR LINKS AND GOOD ANWSERS***

SIM cards.?
Any phone that is GSM will support simcards, the only phone that i'm not too sure about is the LG VX8500 i think it's not GSM but the other phones are GSM and will work with a simcard.
Reply:Just buy a cool cell phone you like that uses the GSM network and you can use a sim card in it. As far as push-to-talk goes, that will be a feature the phone would have to come with although these are easy to find.

Sim cards.....?

how exactly do sim cards and unlocked phones and all that good stuff work

i want to buy a phone off the internet, but how do i activate it say with verizon?

Sim cards.....?
Since you are asking about Verizon, don't even bother with sim cards and unlocked phones. Verizon's phones and network are CDMA, which doesn't use sim cards, and therefore can't use unlocked phones since unlocked only refers to GSM and iDEN phones meaning they can accept a sim card from a compatible provider. Only CDMA phones can be used with a CDMA provider.

How to transfer sim cards?

I was going to buy an unlocked phone on ebay and switch the sim cards out. I would still be on the same network as the unlocked phone. I wanted to know if this is possible and if i can to do it myself or if i need to take it somewhere. i also wanted to know how to tell if my exsisting phone has a sim card or not in the first place.

How to transfer sim cards?
to find your sim.. take out the battery. I know that Verizon and Sprint don't have sim cards.. if you have an unlocked phone, you can use it with any phone provider just about. Just take out the sim an dput it in the new fone. You can check if your provider is compatible with your phone on ebay.. its somewhere on the page
Reply:If you do have one, it is very easy to do. It is usually located under the battery. Remove the battery, and then you will see the card. It looks like a tiny credit card. It should just slide right out. Remove it, and put it in your new phone. You just have to make sure you have one, and the new phone you're buying is compatible.
Reply:open the back of the phone and then take the battery then the sim card should be a little card that is put in underneath a piece of plastic then take it out and do the same to the other phone and switch their spots

Can a SIM cards be inserted into another phone?

I want to keep Cingular phone service, but their phones suck! If I buy a phone directly from the manufacturer, say, Nokia, will I be able to insert the SIM card into the new phone? (My current phone is LG.) Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm technologically challenged!

Can a SIM cards be inserted into another phone?
Yes. Bit of the phone is "locked" you have to unlock it first. It's mostly pay-as-you-go phones that are locked; but others obtained at concessional prices (or free) may also be locked.

You can do it by getting a code online or for free, or a shop can do it, often for $10 or £10.

Google %26lt;unlock phones%26gt; or try the sites below.
Reply:As someone who used to work for a cell phone company, I can guarantee you the answer is "no". Different manuafacturers use different SIM cards....No dice!
Reply:Yes
Reply:sometimes the phone needs to be unlocked
Reply:i guess, maybe you should talk to another phone agents or talk to the agents who makes the phone
Reply:yes.....i do it when I go over seas....wink!
Reply:Yes, I am assuming you meant to buy an unlocked phone from the Internet. Unlocked phones don't have restrictions on bands and provider coverage. You could however, also unlock your current LG phone for a small price at certain places on the web.
Reply:If you purchase a phone from Nokia you need to make sure its GSM capable and it has the 1900 and 850 frequency. Normally when you purchase phones from the manufacture they are already unlocked. They are only locked if you purchase from a wireless provider. Also if you purchase a phone straight from Nokia be sure to call your provider to configure your phone so you can use the internet and picture messaging. Cingular doesnt charge to do it and its simple.
Reply:Yes . You can insert sim card into other cell phones (only if you can remove it from your original Cingular phone)

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?

Okay, im currently using Cingular (now the new At%26amp;t) and my Motorola RAZR recently fell into water. Now it doesn't work from what I know, and I was wondering if I can take the SIM card from the RAZR and put it onto my Samsung phone which is also from Cingular. Will it work, and will it do damage to the other phone by any harms?

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?
No. All you can do is try and see if the card still works. As long as it didnt get fried then it should work. Give it a try, it won't hurt your Samsung at all. Good luck!
Reply:yes you can as switch the sim, if you can make/receive calls, then it's ok. if you get a sim error then your card may have been damaged. usually you can get your sim card wet and it will be ok to use it.
Reply:If it is fine, it will definitely work on your other Cingular phone. It cannot damage your Samsung phone, so you should put in the SIM and try it. If it does not work, then the problem is that the SIM card may have gotten damaged in the water, but the problem will not be because of any phone compatibility issues.

Sim cards?

does sprint have sim cards

because what if i get a unlocked phone for t-mobile then i bring it into sprint, can they put a sim card in it so it will work with them or not?

Sim cards?
All GSM phones use sim cards. Sprint isn't a GSM carrier they use CDMA technology like Verizon which doesn't use any sim cards so you can't switch phones without calling the carrier.
Reply:my friend is travelling to Europe, so i offered him to use my triband world-phone,...but guess what, his service (Verizon) does not use a Sim card, what a "crock", most carriers use Sim cards, it makes it easy to change phones, use someone else's phone using your own stored address book ... Report Abuse

Reply:Sprint does not have sims cards
Reply:Most phones use a SIM card except for the High end ones like a Blackberry. Theoretically if the t-mobile phone is unlocked then you can put your sprint SIM card in it and it will work fine. Sidekicks don't have a sim card. So it won't work for that.
