What are sim cards made off apart from the plastic obviously the metal contacts?
Sim cards are plastic. The contacts are gold plated metal (probably tin) wires from the contacts are bonded onto metalised contacts on the silicon substrate of a LSI chip.

The chip is predominately silicon with some added impurities (arsenic, phosphorus, silicon dioxide etc) which are diffused / implanted to form the electronic circuit.
