I have the Motorola C139 prepaid tracfone and i want to upgrade to the Motorola C261. They are both tracfones and work the same way. Before i buy it, i want to know if i can switch my sim card from one to the other to keep my number and all my contacts.

no you cant. tracfones are locked by software. only the sim supplied with the phone works.
get tmobile to go the rates are way cheaper and the quality is good.
