Can Orange phones accept o2 sim cards and vice versa?

Im on an 02 contract and have recently gone on to Orange contract. I'm planning to keep both contracts but want to be able to swap sim cards as the orange phone is newer...is this possible? Do i have to get the phones unlocked?

Can Orange phones accept o2 sim cards and vice versa?
Hi

The orange phone will almost certainly be locked and will need to be unlocked, do a search on the net for "unlock manufacturer model" as there are some sites that will give you a code for free.

Some phones however will need software and a cable so it can cost from a few pounds to 10's of pounds depending on it's popularity. If it is a rare phone it maybe that it would be cheaper to pay orange to unlock it.

Same goes for the o2 handset, however if you bought it from an independant it may well be unlocked from new.

Hope that helps
Reply:Initially no they wont. you have to get them unlocked
Reply:Usually Orange phones will be locked - they like to brand them! You can tell by looking for Orange / o2 logo's on the phones - if the logo is stamped on the phone then it will be locked.

If they are locked you can ask the network to unlock them, but it will usually be cheaper to take the phones to a stall / store as this is usually just £10.
Reply:idk
Reply:I also have orange %26amp; o2 %26amp; was told i could not use my orange phone. I would be interested if any one knows differerent
Reply:yea you can but you need to get the phone unblocked 1st so you can use any sim
Reply:yea you can :) but make sure the phone is unlocked to take any sim card
Reply:they can if they have been unlocked, but to do this, go to oen of the phone stalls you see in your local shopping centre
