Are all SIM cards the same in like demension?

Will a T-Mobile sim card go in any phone? Or a cingular sim in any phone? Are they all the same size therfore all of them can fit in any phone?

Are all SIM cards the same in like demension?
If it is a locked phone and your sim card is for a non 3G phone than it can go to a non 3G pone and if the sim card is for a 3G phone than it can go to only a 3G phone on the same carrier phone.

If the phone is unlocked than you can use it with other gsm phones if you sim card is for gsm as long as it is like about 3g go with 3g and non 3g go with non 3g. I hope this helps
Reply:YA u can do so . But some companies are fools liike Cingular who does not allows us to change the sim...
Reply:your just dumb.

I have two identical Razor phones the one I normally use does not work can I switch SIM cards.

Can I switch SIM cards from 1 razor phone to another?
yes, only if the to phones r from the same carrier
Reply:Yes. Sim cards are interchangeable. You can put your card in an entirely different model if you want as long as it takes sim cards.
Reply:of course you can.
Reply:yeah why not if its the same servers no problem if not get the phone unlocked then it will work with any card you want
Reply:Yes, all sim cards are the same size.
Reply:Yes you can, you can put your sim in any unlocked gsm phone. When you put your sim it should read if it's not unlocked it'll say "subsidy code" which means that it's locked. Are you interested in selling your broken phone. If you are let me know. Thank you

What are the advantages of cellphones with dual SIM cards?

I have seen a few models, they say it has GSM + GSM and dual standby. I have two cellphones, one for business, work etc and the other personal. So when I am like not in a mood to talk or anything and the phone rings, I figure out if it's the work related phone or the personal one and accordingly whether to answer it. So I don't understand the logic of a dual SIM phone. Can someone please explain? Also what is dual standby? Thanks.

What are the advantages of cellphones with dual SIM cards?
It is a mobile phone that allows you to insert two SIM cards at the same time. So, with this mobile, you can insert 2 different SIM cards that allow you to make and receive a call for both numbers by using one mobile phone.

2 numbers standby at same time. You can choose one of them to dial out or receive the call at anytime. ( Separate SMS/ phone books/ call history folders- both number can receive or send SMS) .Therefore: you don't need to purcahse another mobile phone if you have 2 numbers.

Can I interchange the sim cards of my new two cell phones using the same provider and how?

I upgraded my old cell phones to an LG and a Sony Ericsson with separate lines and made a mistake in assigning the existing numbers of my old phones to each new phone during activation. I tried switching the sims cards but didn't work. The Sony was activated using my regular number but I prefer to have the LG.

Can I interchange the sim cards of my new two cell phones using the same provider and how?
Take it to your local cell phone service provider store. Using their computers, they can reset, reactivate, and switch the SIM cards. Just explain to them exactly what you want :)

What phone companies can you swap over Sim cards?

What phone company can I put any network sim card in

I know I can't Orange or T mobile I would have to unlock the phone as they are locked to the particular company but there are some that you can just swap and it work on that network

I ask because I am going to go travelling in about 8 months and my contract is due to expire soon while travelling I will be given a Vodaphone Sim card to put in to my phone but I don't want Vodaphone right now as they are not that good

Any help would be great thanks

What phone companies can you swap over Sim cards?
you will prob need to go to a market to get a phone unlocked, they jus plug a phone into a laptop and unlock it. usually costs £5. although about ur other situation, o2 i think although most phones nowadays are locked down
Reply:well u can put any sim card in the fone as long as it doent have the network logo on, but if u need 2 unlock it go down to ur local market and ask any fone ppl they its normal about £5-10 but they u can put any sim in then so if u sell it on u can get that bit more coz it on any net work hope that (most contract fone are open net works any way coz ma ma mum old phone ma bro got a Orange in and it was o2 contract phone)
Reply:T-mobile and At%26amp;t/Cingular.

There are of course two types of these cards utilizing different types of programming.

There really are only two wireless companies in the US that use sim cards; they are T-Mobile and AT%26amp;T/Cingular Wireless. These companies are referred to as GSM carriers.

All most all other carriers in the US do not use the GSM technology that uses a sim card. These carriers are called CDMA carriers and they include the following:

1. Verizon Wireless 2. Sprint PCS Wireless 3. Alltel Wireless 4. US Cellular 5. Cricket 6. Metro PCS 7. QWest

If you have a cell phone account with a CDMA carrier like Verizon, your phone does not use a sim card and will not work with one. Sim cards only work with GSM phones.
Reply:better if you will ask to the company's care center yourself
Reply:Most phones you get with contracts are locked to that particular network. You can get some that aren't and most that you buy SIM card free can be used on any network. If your going abroad your best bet is to call your current provider and ask them if they have any sister companies in the country your going to and when you get there buy one of their cards. Some of the more globally minded networks like Hutchinson 3G mobile have what they call 'like home networks' where you can use you English contract handset, Sim and Min's the same as if you were stood in UK making a call. This is because they have the same network in many different counties so don't charge huge international rates.

When I go abroad I always buy a pre pay SIM card for a local network. You can pick up a new generic (not branded) quad band mobile for about £30 nowadays and away you go
Reply:you'd need to get your phone unlocked to any network. Most town have a little kiosk where they sell mobile phone accessories and the majority of such kiosks will unlock your phone, cost anywhere between £5 and £15 depending on where you go.

Phones locked to T Mobile are able to use a Virgin Mobile SIM card because Virgin 'piggy backs' on T Mobile's network becuse they do not have their own.

Ive been lucky because when I went for my new phone contract a couple of months ago, I wanted an Orange one but they didnt have any left so they had to give me a SIM free one, meaning its unlocked to any network.

If you're still struggling with getting the phone unlocked then just google it, that should bring up some info for you.

I hope that helps poppet

And enjoy the travelling!xxxx

If I buy a mobile phone, will it work with SIM cards in another country?

I'm not talking about the phone service or roaming or whatever.

I'm talking about the actual phone model. If I buy it in one country, will it work with SIM cards in another country, or will I have to buy a new phone in order to use the local network?

If I buy a mobile phone, will it work with SIM cards in another country?
Hi Yes

As long as the phone you purchase is a UNLOCKED GSM Quadband (GSM850/900/1800/1900) It will work with any GSM sim from any country you might be in

Additional

To check the phone to see if it is unlocked, borrow a sim card from a friend or family member that uses a different mobile provider then you use. put their sim in the phone, if it works, then its unlocked.

If it is locked, it will reject the sim most likley giving you a messeage to enter a subsidy code

When purchasing a phone, the seller should state if it is unlocked as it is an added selling feature and helps increase the value
Reply:it all depends if the phone is unlocked or not i know that unlocked phones from the us will work in canada i bought a unlocked phone and put a rogers sim card in it and it worked just fine
Reply:if the phone is sim free it will work anywhere

Alright i have a question about sim cards in cell phones?

Okay i bought a phone it is a cingular, i bought it unlocked. The plan that they want to give me does not suit what i want in my cell phone. If i bought like one of those pre-paid phones and took out the sim card and put it in my cingular phone will the cingular phone work like the pre-paid one? All answers will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Alright i have a question about sim cards in cell phones?
The sim card in the pre-paid phone is there simply to store information, not affect the functions or options of your cellphone. All cellphones have different functions and/or options and what I would do is return the unblocked cellphone to the seller if the phone doesn't have the capabilities that you want. I would go to your local Cingular retail store and find a phone THERE that has the options you want and then find a plan that suits you. The plan you pick should not be dependent on the type phone you use. Some phones will "do" plenty of things that you might not need it to do or want it to do. If you explain to the Cingular salesperson exactly what you want, they should be able to find you the precise phone you need and then the plan that you need. PLUS, if you should have a problem with your phone, you have 30 days to return it and you will be able to do that at the store you purchased it at AND if you should have a problem with the phone within the year warranty period, it's easy to get service by simply going into the store or by calling customer service at 611. No having to mail the phone back and all that nonsense. Good luck!~
Reply:It should if its a unlocked phone, other wise buy a cingular pre-paid and I know that will work.
Reply:Of the phone is unlocked and a GSM you can swap sims and switch between networks easily. Most Cingular and AT%26amp;T phones with sim cards are GSM phones.

Which pre-pay phones use GSM SIM cards, and can I put that SIM card into a perfectly fine bluetooth phone?

We have a perfectly fine bluetooth cell phone, and we have vehicles that utilize bluetooth for hands free dialing etc. We want to get a pre-pay phone and we're wondering if either there is a company who makes a pre-pay bluetooth version or if we can swap the SIM (GSM) card from a pre-pay phone and put it in our bluetooth phone... and will it work. Thanks!

Which pre-pay phones use GSM SIM cards, and can I put that SIM card into a perfectly fine bluetooth phone?
You don't find many phones on the market today that don't have the Bluetooth feature. To use one SIM card in another phone, the phone must either be unlocked or from the same provider. Cingular used to be a GSM system, I would think AT%26amp;T did continue the same system.

Temporary sim cards available in malaysia?

I live in dubai and i use a 'wasel' sim card as they call it here. This is a pre-paid service and it does not have roaming support in Malaysia. i am flying there in a coupla weeks and I need to know if temporary sim cards available in Malaysia that I can use for a day or two. Are there any kind of 'traveler's' sim card available?please help.

Temporary sim cards available in malaysia?
Actually we dont have any temporary sim cards. What we have is pre-paid but u'll need a simple registration. No worries registrations is just for people not to misuse the lines. So get a get prepaid sim card from any one of our Telco. And the line will be instantly activated.
Reply:You can get prepaid SIM cards for RM8.80 (from Maxis), with RM5 credit inside. The more you need, just buy more credit. Topping up is easy, and top up cards are available anywhere - even at 7-11 outlets.

There are no temporary SIM cards, but once you buy one it will be activated in no more than 2 hours. Only conditions are that you must give your passport to be photocopied so that they can register your details online. Head for large service provider centres that do the registration for you - because if you buy the SIM card from a small service centre you have to activate it yourself at a post office, or online.
Reply:Pre-paid sim card can be bought everywhere even in 7-11.

You can either choose

maxis

Celcom

Digi

There are less then USD3.00
Reply:Temporary Sim Card - we don't have it here. But we do have pre-paid sim cards, which only need a few minutes for registration (especially DIGI Telecommunications). You can register right away. Registration is made by their staff, just provide them your International Passport. And the price is about USD2.50

Enjoy your stay in Malaysia and

don't swallow your SIM card....

hahaha (just kidding - there's a case going on here in Malaysia)

Does anyone know how sim cards work?

i've never had a phone that needs a sim card so i don't know anything about it. I'm planning on getting a plan with cingular/at %26amp;t getting a free phone and then buying a new one from e bay. they say it works for cingular phones when i look at product info but has anyone tried this and had success.

Does anyone know how sim cards work?
yes it works for t-mobile and cingular because they have sim card phones. you just have to buy the new phone and when you get it you put your sim card in and it will work.
Reply:A Sim card will work in any phone that takes a Sim card. I suggest always having a phone with a Sim card, that way if your phone breaks or something, you will always have all your important stuff on your Sim card.

Is my mobile compatible with Virgin SIM cards?

I need to know if my Sagem (myC5-3) is compatible with Virgin SIM cards, I want to change networks from Vodafone.

Can someone help me?

Is my mobile compatible with Virgin SIM cards?
The Sagem is a GSM (SIM card) device so if you live in the UK then yes it would be compatible with Virgin Mobiles services. Virgin Mobile in the UK uses the T-Mobile network which is GSM (SIM card) based. However, Virgin Mobile uses the Sprint network in the US which is CDMA based and hence would not be compatible with a GSM device.

Which cellphone can use 3 sim cards simultaneously?

I need a cellphone that will have 3 slots for 3 sim cards. The purpose is for me to be able to insert these 3 sims into the phone so I can receive calls simultaneously on all of them without having to switch lines.

Those extra slots are probably for memory cards rather than SIM cards. Try and see if a Transflash card can fit.

its call a SIM card here in the US too and mostly everywhere else.

T-mobile and Cingular are two major carriers using sim cards and have a very wide network.

Sprint and verizon are providers you wanna avoid as they are CDMA phones ( the one with out sim cards)
Reply:yeah us carriers do use sim cards but only tmobile and att. verizon, sprint, alltel, cricket, etc. use cdma instead. so as long as you get a tmobile or att phone your good but you need to make sure you get it unlocked cause if its not unlocked it will only take that carriers sim card

Will Blackbeery Curve 8310 take other SIM cards from same provider?
I changed by card from my RAZR to my Curve and it worked fine. It doesn't keep pictures, messages, ringtones, or games, but all your address book entries will stay on IF you have them as address book entries saved to SIM not to phone.

How do Sprint phones work without Sim Cards?

I've been with T-Mobile for years and am switching to Sprint. Whenever I wanted a new phone with T-Mobile I just pop my Sim card into it and thats it. I know Sprint doesn't use Sim Cards so how does that work. I want to sell the "free" phone and get a PDA phone off ebay, do I have to have service on the free phone deactivated in shop? and then transfered to the new PDA phone I get off ebay?

How do Sprint phones work without Sim Cards?
Sprint uses CDMA, so all your data is stored into the phone itself. Everytime you want to switch phones, you'll have to go into a Sprint store so they can transfer the data.

It's possible that Sprint might have some weird guidelines about you keeping the phone for 3 months before they'll swap your information.

But if you haven't got the free phone yet, just look on eBay for a PDA phone that comes with service. Or try the Sprint SERO discount:

No. Cricket's phones and network are CDMA, which doesn't use sim cards.

Is it true that you can buy unlocked phones and use sim cards from other carriers?

Is it true that you can buy unlocked(and/or refurbished) cellphones from telus, virgin mobile etc. and use a sim card from rogers or fido? would that work?

Is it true that you can buy unlocked phones and use sim cards from other carriers?
yes it is true.

my boyfriend unlocked his own cell to use a sim card from Fido instead.

Also, a lot of my friends go overseas and buy newer and/or unoffered cell phone models (unlocked) from Asia and simply add a sim card from a local carrier once they come back to Canada.
Reply:Ya it's true.

Like try going to eBay and search(for example): Sidekick unlocked.

But they have to have sim cards. Like At%26amp;t and T-Mobile.

Can Orange phones accept o2 sim cards and vice versa?

Im on an 02 contract and have recently gone on to Orange contract. I'm planning to keep both contracts but want to be able to swap sim cards as the orange phone is newer...is this possible? Do i have to get the phones unlocked?

Can Orange phones accept o2 sim cards and vice versa?
Hi

The orange phone will almost certainly be locked and will need to be unlocked, do a search on the net for "unlock manufacturer model" as there are some sites that will give you a code for free.

Some phones however will need software and a cable so it can cost from a few pounds to 10's of pounds depending on it's popularity. If it is a rare phone it maybe that it would be cheaper to pay orange to unlock it.

Same goes for the o2 handset, however if you bought it from an independant it may well be unlocked from new.

Hope that helps
Reply:Initially no they wont. you have to get them unlocked
Reply:Usually Orange phones will be locked - they like to brand them! You can tell by looking for Orange / o2 logo's on the phones - if the logo is stamped on the phone then it will be locked.

If they are locked you can ask the network to unlock them, but it will usually be cheaper to take the phones to a stall / store as this is usually just £10.
Reply:idk
Reply:I also have orange %26amp; o2 %26amp; was told i could not use my orange phone. I would be interested if any one knows differerent
Reply:yea you can but you need to get the phone unblocked 1st so you can use any sim

Reply:they can if they have been unlocked, but to do this, go to oen of the phone stalls you see in your local shopping centre

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?

I have a crappy old Cingular cell phone that I would like to take the sim card out of and put in another phone. I do not want to purchase a new plan, so I was looking at phones on ebay. Has anyone ever done this and have any advice on what I shoud/should not be looking for? Thanks!

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?
As long as you get another cingular phone it will be fine. Just take out your old card and put it in your new phone. It's no problem at all.
Reply:its ok man.... go change now
Reply:it didn't work for me but you should still try it.
Reply:I had the same problem, kinda. I bought my brother's pay as you go Cingular flip phone because I liked it better then my plan Cingular bar phone. It wouldn't work even though they were both from Cingular. I did some research on the net and found out that most phones have some sort of programming in them so that they can only be used for what they were intended and only by that company. Apparently the purpose of this was to make the phone company's more money. Every time you switch service you have to get a new phone instead of being able to use your old one. Someone figured out how to unlock them though. There are plenty of places on the net that will do it for a small fee. I think around 10 dollars or so. Make sure that you find a reputable place before sending them your phone. What would be easier though if you are lookin to get a new phone, would be to get one from ebay that has already been unlocked. Meaning that you can use it with whatever service contractor you would like. Just make

sure that the phone has all the features that you like. For instance if you get a plan from Cingular that has the new PTT, the walkie talkie type feature, included in the plan, unless the phone itself has that feature included in that model it will be useless to you. If you go to ebay and look up cell phones it will bring up a list and if you look at the bottom left hand side of the screen there should be alot of guides there written about what to look for when buying phones on ebay. Hope this helps
Reply:Oh this is an easy one, I have cingular as well and have gone through so many phones. Go ahead and purchase a new or used phone on E-bay-- make sure its one that your provider uses aka motorola and that it can take a sim card. Contact the seller of the phone you want and ASK questions. Its really easy to switch the sim card out though :)
Reply:I believe you have to get another cingular phone. Then you just pop the card out and put it into the new phone. I had nextel and did just that. It worked out fine.

How much are sim cards from at&t wireless?

i live in san antonio.i locked my sim card and need another one.how much would this sim card cost?

How much are sim cards from at%26amp;t wireless?
around 25 bucks plus tax - you can get them anywhere ATT service is sold. such as walmart , radio shack or best buy you dont have to go to a store if its not easy to get to one
Reply:I'm pretty sure AT%26amp;T gives them away for free, if you just walk in a store and ask. I'm also pretty sure your phone won't work without it, which is a big reason why they do give them away for freel
Reply:A friend of mines got one for about fifty dollars on sale one day...I guess it depends which one you want...

Can you switch SIM cards with a Blackberry like you can a regular phone?

I'm getting my husband a Blackberry, but I'm getting it under my phone number on ATT - like an upgrade. Anyway, I was wondering if I would be able to just put his SIM card in the Blackberry or if I would have to actually order it under his number.

Can you switch SIM cards with a Blackberry like you can a regular phone?
Yes but it depends on the carrier. If the phone is made for like T-Mobile, or Cingular/AT%26amp;T then yes you can. Most of their phones are made to be used with SIM cards.

How do sim cards work, exactly?

Can you just store numbers on them, and use them on another phone that has another phone service and plan? or does the sim card work only with a phone with the same service and plan? I need any helpful information, thanks guys!

How do sim cards work, exactly?
There is a little leprechaun, with a miniature typewriter, who hands off the typed sheets to a fairy who delivers your messages and makes the other person's phone ring. It is a very labor intensive activity.
Reply:A sim card is used to save all the information about your service on it. Your number, your contacts, you pictures, the plan you have. It basically has all of your information on it.

Would it work if a switched sim cards with two different phones?
yes if the phones you have the same type of sim card u can switch them and use the phone you want doesn't matter the make or model just make sure the sim cards are the sam shape, size etc. just the same
Reply:i think it does if they are the same size and all, and same service, but it might not. Im not really sure.

Hope you get more help then what this blonde gave you!
Reply:If you have the same carrier, that's OK. The Sim is the Brain of the phone if you go to another company you would have to get a Sim unlock and you would have to ask your carriers customer service to request that for you
Reply:You should have no problen switching sim cards, so long as the phones are open to the same airtime provider.

The make of phones doesnt matter, it is just the airtime provider that matters!!
Reply:Switch as in take the SIM out your old phone and put it in the new one? If that is what you were implying you most certainly can do that, and all the data will remain the same.

What GSM Phones Can You Use The T-Mobile Prepaid Sim Cards With?

I'm thinking about getting a T-Mobile Prepaid Sim Card, and was wondering what GSM phone models and services will work with it.

I've heard that Verizon and Sprint phones do not work with the T-Mobile Prepaid Sim Card.

What GSM Phones Can You Use The T-Mobile Prepaid Sim Cards With?
Basically ANY gsm phone running on the us gsm band (850/1800/1900) will support the T-mobile simcard as long as it is UNLOCKED!!!!!!!!!
Reply:You can really only get any TMobile GSM phone to use or any Unlocked AT%26amp;T phone to use with tmobile prepaid. and you are correct Verizon and Sprint are CDMA tech so they don't use SIM cards

Do cellphone SIM cards come in different sizes?

Are phones in the US with a SIM card differently sized to canadian SIM cards? Could I buy a LG Voyager(verizon) from the US and use it in canada(rogers)?

Do cellphone SIM cards come in different sizes?
Voyager is a Verizon exclusive phone. There is no Sim card in it as it's a CDMA phone using an ESN number instead of a SIM. You wont be able to move it to any other carrier. If I were you I'd get a North American Edition Nokia N95 8gb. IT is an awesome world band phone that you can add programs to. I had the Voyager and eventually moved to a smaller phone then I switched to AT%26amp;T all together and got the Nokia which is an awesome phone.

Can you use a phone with any company that uses sim cards?

Can you use a phone with any company that uses sim cards? Like say I had an old phone from t-mobile and I was added to another company that uses sim cards....could I just switch the sim cards or would I have to get a completely new phone?

Can you use a phone with any company that uses sim cards?
You must make sure the other company uses the same type of network. Some companies that offer the PTT feature use iDEN networks, while most companies such as T-Mobile use GSM networks. You cannot use an iDEN phone on a GSM network, or vice versa. Hope this helps.

How do you insert/take out SIM cards in iPhones?

My new iPhone came with AT%26amp;T SIM card and I want to take that out, put in my T-Mobile SIM card, and unlock it for T-Mobile.

How do I take out the SIM? This thing doesnt open!

Do I need to activate it on AT%26amp;T first? Or is there a way to just unlock it with my T-Mobile SIM in it?

How do you insert/take out SIM cards in iPhones?
First and foremost I have to mentioned that any tampering done to your iPhones Manufacturer installed software (such as unlocking) will Void your Warranty thus anything that goes wrong and will go wrong, and your iPhone no longer works you cannot return it and are stuck with an expensive piece of equipment.

Now the sim card slot is located at the top center of the phone, left of the power button. You will simply use a paper clip to lift up and pull out the cover. T-Mobile %26amp; AT%26amp;T's sim cards are identical in size. Enjoy your iPhone on T-Mobile lol.

Word of advice, when unlocking and installing "Cool" programs and other stuff your iPhone might go banannas simply reinstall the original software and do the unlocking all over again.

Which Mobile Phone Companies not required personal info for their sim cards?

I have been using Telstra in the Brisbane area, but it required me to disclosed some personal information to activate a prepaid sim card. Which other mobile phone companies do NOT require any personal information, or at least requires only the minimal amount of it.

Which Mobile Phone Companies not required personal info for their sim cards?
I dont think there is a single company that will NOT require you to give personal information.

After 7/11 everyone has beefed up security. The government expects all cell service providers to verify customer information. So, you have no choice but to give them the information. After all.. its for security measures
Reply:there is no company that will NOT require you to give personal information.

Can I switch sim cards in my cell phone without damage?

I have a LG phone and it is broken, can I put the sim card into my old Nokia phone and have it work?

Can I switch sim cards in my cell phone without damage?
You should be able to as long as you are staying with the same provider. If you switch providers {i.e. from cingular to altell} then you can't. The good news is that if you are switching providers and you go to an authorized dealer of the new provider, they should have a sim card reader. It can take the information from the old sim card and put it on a new one that will work in your phone. I just went through the same thing.
Reply:I think you can. Sim cards are designed to swap between phones.
Reply:Sure you can, as long as the Sim card is not damaged
Reply:Yeah you can but the Nokia phone has to be SIM ready, or it won't work
Reply:Yeah, I am pretty sure that will work. I have switched mine back and forth between a motorola, and LG and a Blackberry, and they all worked fine.

Is there any company that uses SIM cards in the US?

I want to be able to use my telephone which I bought from outside of the US with a SIM card system from here??? Is there any way?

Is there any company that uses SIM cards in the US?
Cingular and T-Mobile

Sometimes AT%26amp;T depending on where you're at... I've had all three of them at different times within the last 10 years... T-Mobile has the best deals right now though, just got 3 RAZRs and one Samsung mp3 phone, with no money down, and $200 cash back... Unlimited mobile to mobile, and myfavs...

Pretty sweet deal.

To use your phone on a different network, you will have to unlock your phone, search your phone in google with the words unlock next to it.

Sprint and Verizon don't usually use SIM cards, only in certain cases, it will be difficult for you to find a place that will give you a SIM for either of those, i'd stick with Cingular or T-Mobile if you were going to do that though.

If you're planning on using your phone for that, you might as well sign up for a deal with a company that uses SIM cards, and get a free phone with them, then use your SIM card in your other phone, that way you'll have an extra free phone with the one you currently have.
Reply:tmobile and cingular use sim cards

it depends on what kind of phone you have
Reply:oh yeah, i think most of the new phones do. i know Motorola and sprint do. i have a really old sprint phone that DOESNT but i think most of the newer models have them

Is their a difference between sim cards, like diffrent types of sim cards?

1.If their is, what kind of sim card do i need for a nokia n81 phone?

2. what is the cheapest way i can buy minutes?

Is their a difference between sim cards, like diffrent types of sim cards?
Sim cards are all the same, as in they're all the same size and have the same function. The difference in them would be that they are from a different company, e.g. O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, etc. Depending on what company they're from, you will get different minutes and texts deals on it. Check out the websites for these companies, or you can call them up, and find out what's the best deal for you.
Reply:that phone takes any cimcard so i prefer t-mobile its cheap like 10 dollars for the sim and like another10 or15 for activation

Is it true that Nextel and Boost Mobile SIM cards are interchangeable?

My Motorola i670 (Nextel) sucks, so I wanted to switch my SIM card and battery into a Motorola i855 (Boost). They are both walkie-talkie phones, so are the switchable? I need a walkie talkie phone for my job so don't tell me that they suck.

Is it true that Nextel and Boost Mobile SIM cards are interchangeable?
They are interchangeable but be aware of the possibility that not all features of the phone will work properly if at all. Although they work similarly, our phones require specific MODELS of sim cards and customers are advised against sim swapping as that voids your manufacturer's warranty as well.
Reply:yes

I wondering if I can use two att cell phones and just switch out the sim cards?

Where to buy prepaid sim cards in China?

Hi, my friend is going on exchange to China for a few months. My friends and I plan to give him a cell phone (he doesn't have one) as a gift. The phone is unlocked already. I was wondering where to buy prepaid sim cards in China? just simply at China Mobile or China Unicom stores? and refill where? convenience stores?

i couldn't find any info on those network's sites? a link with more info would be much appreciated.

Where to buy prepaid sim cards in China?
You can buy it right in the airport there are little booths. I'd recommend China Mobile. I use them and have no problems. Also, most vendors are friendly and will even activate the card for you and test it while you wait.

Beware of one thing though, your friend should buy the card with a phone number of the area he is living in. So if he is going to Shanghai, he shouldn't buy a Beijing SIM card at Beijing Capital Airport or all of his calls in Shanghai will be long distance calls "to Beijing" and cost much more. Sort of like "roaming" used to be in the US.
Reply:You can get them almost anywhere, but I suggest don't buy them from China mobile or China unicom as they will charge you a lot more.

You can buy from from little convenience stores, although he will have to buy top up card. These will be cheaper.

It will be better if he knew someone Chinese to help him..
Reply:basically almost everywhere.

but becareful, lots of fake stuff i china nowadays

The process of switching sim cards in between phones?

Ok so pretend i have two phones, one from t-mobile and one from at%26amp;t. I get the sim card from the at%26amp;t phone and put it in the t-mobile and get the t-mobile card and put it in the at%26amp;t phone. So what would I have to do if I turn on both of the phone? Will it just work? Do I need to adjust anything?

The process of switching sim cards in between phones?
Well, the phones need to be unlocked. You can unlock them through various online services or, if available, software online. Depending on your standing and the policy of each provider you can call and have the phones unlocked. With T-mobile the policy is 1 unlock code per 90 days of good standing service. With AT%26amp;T you should just try calling and asking. I'm not sure if they have a similar policy or not.
Reply:No it won't work.

The only way it will work is if both phones are unlocked. Which means they are not locked to a service provider. Then it wouldn't matter which sim card you put on the phone, it will just work with whatever carrier the cell phone would be.

check out ebay for unlocked mobile phones.

aloha~
Reply:on an unlocked phone yes on a locked phone no you will need to unlock it first

What do sim cards do to mobile phones?

I know you need one for it to work, but say you have a phone with a camera and video and you just want them to work, does the sim card make them work but does nothing to the calls and messages if you don't go with any phone plan?

What do sim cards do to mobile phones?
Ok Here it goes ,Sim Stands for Subscriber Identity Module. SIM is part of a removable smart card ICC (Integrated Circuit Card), also known as SIM Cards, for mobile cellular telephony devices such as mobile computers and mobile phones. SIM cards securely store the service-subscriber key (IMSI) used to identify a subscriber. The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device.

SIM cards are available in two standard sizes. The first is the size of a credit card (85.60 mm × 53.98 mm x 0.76 mm). The newer, more popular miniature-version has a width of 25 mm, a height of 15 mm, and a thickness of 0.76 mm. However most SIM cards are supplied as a full-sized card with the smaller card held in place by a few plastic links and can be easily broken off to be used in a phone that uses the smaller SIM.

The first SIM Card was made in 1991, with Munich smart card maker Giesecke %26amp; Devrient selling the first 300 SIM cards to Finnish wireless network operator Elisa Oyj (formerly Radiolinja).
Reply:well yeah.. a sim card with no connection to the network can let you just turn on your phone.. but no calls, texts
Reply:umm i do think they work the video and the camera, but any other phone service (texting, calling, internet) will not work
