Do virgin mobile phones work with SIM cards?

My cingular phone broke and I am under contract for another 6 months. Can I buy a pay-as-you-go phone (ex. virgin mobile) and put my SIM card into that phone. My main concern is that Virgin Mobile's phones aren't compatable with the Cingular SIM cards.

You can either get a Tmobile or Cingular prepaid phone for temporary use until you get your upgrade. None of Virgin Mobile's phone will utilize SIM cards since their network is CDMA. If you buy a Cingular to go phone, you just have to insert your SIM card in it and you're good to go. If you buy any other company's phone (e.x. TMobile), you need to get the phone unlocked first, and then you can use it.
Reply:Virgin Mobile phones are CDMA Digital. Cingular phones are GSM. The two are not compatible. However, you can buy one of the Cingular pay-as-you go packaged phones and use it. Just pop in you sim card and go.
