Currently, in the plan there are 2 phones: my phone and my dads phone. Since his is broken, I was wondering if it's possible to buy a phone for him and then exchanging SIM cards so I can have the new one without starting a new contract.
Will changing the sim card on my AT%26amp;T phone force me to start a new contract?

As long as you get a phone that will use the Sim card you will be O.K. Be sure you get one that is compatible with the AT%26amp;T network. A GSM phone is your best bet.
I did that when my wifes phone died because our contract wasn't up and they wanted too much for a new phone.
