What companies use sim cards in the US?
The 2 MAJOR carriers in the US are Cingular/AT%26amp;T and T Mobile. You mentioned that you want to buy and UNLOCKED phone. Your best bet is to purchase an UNLOCKED GSM mobile phone. GSM is the INTERNATIONAL standard, which means that you can use it anywhere on the planet without much problem. Some people in previous posts mentioned companies like Sprint and Verizon. They use different networking technologies and when you try to set them up you'll find that it's not as easy as using GSM. GSM offers the most flexibility - just insert the SIM card and you're off and running. You won't need to call tech support or visit your local Sprint/Nextel or Verizon store to have them set the phone up for you. Which brings up another point - in the rare event it turns out the unlocked phone you purcahsed is stolen. Verizon, Sprint/Nextel WILL NOT allow you to setup or activate that phone.

Verizon does NOT use SIM cards.
Reply:Motorola uses SIM cards...but they're also making phones now that don't use SIM cards. Motorola phone are nice, you should check them out. Hope this helps.

Reply:sprint, verizon, t-mobile, cingular. pretty much every company uses them now.
Reply:cingular
Reply:cingularrrrrr.
Reply:Cingular Sprint T-Mobile and Some Tracfone models
Reply:cingular and sprint both use sim cards
Reply:An unlocked phone means that it does not require a SIM card from a specific company. If you buy an unlocked phone, say the new Cingular super tiny one, than you can put in a Verizon SIM card and call away.
Reply:I use t-mobile and they use SIM cards. Most newer cell phones require SIM cards, no matter what company you use. All of my friends use different companies than me and they all have SIM cards.
